Ember’s POV
I was sitting outside what used to be the CIA base next to Raven when a car pulled up out came Erik, Charles, and the woman.
“Ember.” Erik said rushing up and hugging me. “I’m so glad you’re alright.” He said into my hair. I hugged him back feeling safe in his arms. “Are you alright? Did her hurt you?” He asked looking me up and down for injuries.
“He knocked me out but did no lasting damage.” He nodded obviously mad and kissed my head.
“We’ve made arrangements for you to be taken home immediately.” Charles said.
“I’m not going home.” Sean protested.
“What?”
“He’s not going back to prison.” Sean said nodding to Alex.
“And she’s got nowhere to go.” He said nodding to me.
“He killed Darwin and hurt Ember.” Alex said.
“All the more reason for you to leave. This is over.” Charles said.
“Darwin’s dead Charles, and we can’t even bury him.” Raven said sadness evident in her voice.
“We can avenge him.” My brother said. I looked up at him confused.
“Erik, a word please.” Charles said walking off to the side. After Erik let go of me to follow him, Hank came over and gave me a hug. I hugged him tightly worried at what would happen next.
“We’ll have to train.” I snapped my head up to Charles and stared at him gratefully. “All of us. Yes?” We all agreed.
“We can’t stay here. Even if they reopened the department it’s not safe. We’ve got no where to go.” Hank said.
“Yes we do.” Charles said.

“This is yours.” Sean said looking up at the beautiful mansion.
“No it’s ours.” Charles said.
“Honestly Charles. I don’t know how you survived, living in such hardship.” Erik said sarcastically. I smacked his arm playfully making him grin at me and ruffle my hair. I huffed making him chuckle at my attempts so fix my hair. I giggled as well.
“Well it was a hardship softened by me.” Raven said walking up to Charles. “Come on time for the tour.” I was going to follow everyone when I felt a hand on my wrist. I turned and saw Alex standing there looking at me with eyes filled with so many emotions.
“Are you alright?” I asked blushing. I couldn’t deny that I found Alex attractive.
“I was just wanted to let you know that if you wanted to talk about anything I’m here.” He said quickly before rushing away after the others. I smiled slight to myself and ran after everyone.
“Ember this is your room. Erik’s down the hall, so he’s close.” Raven said as we walked into the room. I gasped. It was amazing. The walls were a light cream color that gave the room a light happy feeling. In the middle of the room was a huge four-poster bed with light drapes around it. “Here’s the closet, we can put your clothes in here when they arrive.” She said opening the door to a huge walk in closet. I looked down at the small backpack that held all of my belongings.
“There are no more clothes, Ray.” She looked a little guilty before changing back to a smile.
“Well you can borrow mine. You and I are the same size anyways.”
“Thanks Ray, you’re a good friend.” She smiled and ran out of the room. I walked over to a huge set of curtains and opened them up to see a window seat that gave an amazing view of the grounds with a satellite disk in the background.
I opened the window and stood on the ledge. I saw my brother standing outside with Charles looking at the garden above them flew a bird. I tapped into the mind of said bird and listened to their conversation. “You have to tell her Erik. She can’t go on without knowing.” I caught Charles saying.
“How am I supposed to tell her that Shaw killed everyone she ever cared about?” My heart stopped.
“You’re still alive Erik.” My brother sighed. “Yeah but I’m not the brother she remembers.” I withdrew before I could hear more. I locked the door and fell asleep.

**Dream**
I was in a room with my brother and Shaw. To the side of them was a whole surgical room filled with knives. The door opened and our mother came in being held by two men.
“Mama!” Erik said running forward and hugging her.
“My darling. How are you?” She said looking at him before they were pulled apart.
“Here’s what we’re going to do.” Shaw said. “I’m going to count to three and you’re going to move the coin. You don’t move the coin. I pull the trigger. Understand?” He said pointing it at Mother.
“One.” He said as Erik desperately tried to move the coin.
“You can do it.” Our mother said.
“Two.”
“Everything is alright.” She said. I shook my head knowing that it wasn’t.
“Three.” He said pulling the trigger. Mother landed on the floor dead. Erik started moving everything around the room completely trashing it.
“NO! MOMMY!” I yelled at the top of my lungs, tears streaming down my face. “Erik! Stop! Remember who you are!” I kept trying to yell at my brother. He couldn’t hear me.
**Dream End**

“EMBER! EMBER WAKE UP!” I woke with a fright to see Alex kneeling next to me shaking me awake looking terrified. “Alex?” I whispered.
“Thank God you’re ok.” He breathed.
“Alex, what happened?” I asked.
“You were screaming like you were being tortured. It scared the living hell out of me.”
“Ember!” Erik screamed as he and everyone else came running in to see me.
“It’s alright Erik. Just a bad dream.” I said sitting cross-legged. “That’s not just a bad dream Ember.” Charles said obviously reading my mind.
“What do you mean?” Alex asked a hint of worry in his voice.
“Her mutation backfired on her. She subconsciously tapped into Erik’s mind and saw his memory of his mother being killed as though she was in the room.” I looked down into my lap as tears fell from my eyes. I felt a pair of warm strong arms come around me and pull me into a warm strong chest. I clung to the person crying silently. It was the first time I had cried in 10 years. The person pulled me onto his lap and rocked me back and forth. I heard the door close meaning that the person and I were the only two left in the room.
I looked up to see that the person was Erik. He looked down and smiled softly at me. I smiled back and snuggled into his body more enjoying the feeling of safety I felt in his arms.
I woke up extremely early the next morning and decided to go work out. I put on a pair of grey sweatpants and a black tank top and grabbing a small black duffle bag before walking through the house quietly. As soon as I got out doors I stretched enjoying the cool morning air. I took a roll of tape and gauze out of my bag and wrapped my hands and feet. I walked up to a random tree and started punching and kicking it. I didn’t stop until I heard someone.
“Kali!” I turned and saw Raven standing there holding a towel and a glass of water.
“Thanks.” I said downing the water and wiping off my sweat with the towel.
“Come on. Let’s go eat.” She said walking back into the house.

“Morning!” I said walking in to the kitchen.
“Morning.” Hank and Sean said.
“Morning.” Alex said in his normal annoyed voice. I have to say he looked really hot in this sleeveless sweatshirt.
“So who wants pancakes?” I asked getting out the ingredients. I turned around laughed when everyone had a hand raised.
I shook my head laughing and started to cook. I made them in different shapes and even spelled people’s name. As I was serving Sean his second plate of food Charles and my brother came in.
“It smells good.” Erik said accepting a plate of food and kissing me on the cheek. I smiled and continued cooking.
“So who’s training first today?” I asked.
“Well I don’t exactly know what your mutation is other than telepathy.” Charles said taking a bite of my pancakes.
“Well I can control and change matter.”
“Would you mind a demonstration?” He asked. I nodded. I looked at a fork and knife before turning them into a toothbrush and paste. Erik chuckled proudly while Charles looked at the toothbrush and paste in amazement.
“I think I’m going to check out everyone else’s mutations before I look at yours.” He said. I nodded returning the utensils to normal and continuing cooking.
