Surprisingly this week was going good for him. No hollow calls for him to help out with, nothing to bother him, getting a nice decent lunch every day, even along with a nap. It seemed too quiet to him... but he had no idea why, until you came back.

You were sick for a while week because of your sore throat, bad enough to have you unable to talk or breath half the time. That was only a secret too you as you smiled and took your seat next to Uryu.

"Hey!" You whispered yelled next to him. That got his attention, but his eyebrow twitched annoyed by your action. "Can I borrow a pencil?"

He sighed and pushes up his glasses with the edge of his index finger. "When will you ever stop bothering me for a pencil? Never will I give you one of my damn pencils!"

You pouted and leaned yourself closer to him at your desk. "But why not?" Your voice a bit louder than intended. "You let other people borrow a pencil from you."

"Because there not annoying like you are!"

His words burned into your soul as you began to cry a bit. It wasn't your fault you just wanted attention... you never got any and school was the place for it. "I-I'm not annoying..." You said meekly back.

Uryu shook his head and looked down at his book again. "That's what you think, but other people know it's the truth and agree with me."

You looked around as a punch too your stomach was delivered. No one was agreeing with you, but with Uryu. You were annoying to... well, everyone. That's when the tears came bursting out. You rushed out of the room as people didn't seem to care and went back to their book.

Uryu began to feel bad for you. Just because you were annoying didn't mean you didn't have emotions. He walked out of the classroom and down the hall to sound of crying. It was in the closet as went he opened it up, he found a red, and puffy eyed you.

"In all the places to hide you hid in the janitors closer?"

"S-Shut up..." You sobbed and weakly threw a roll of paper at him. "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"

He winced at your loud voice but didn't move. "You're in pain, a loud pain, but you're in pain and need help."

"I-I don't n-need help!"

Uryu sighed as he pulled you out of the closet, but noticed you were a bit lighter than before. "Have you eaten anything?"

You looked away in shame. "N-No... not since the... surgery."

His head tilted to the side. "Surgery?"

You explained to him about your throat problem. You and your father next really got along well enough and it cause some fights between the two of you. One night the week before your father was drunk and didn't like your voice, and threw a beer bottle at your throat which had it start bleeding very badly. The inside of your throat was damaged one side and you have to speak loud at times or your throat would close up on you, it swell up and die if you didn't.

At that moment Uryu felt like the evil one there. So that's why you had to be loud... now it make much more sense.

He suddenly hugged you as you gasped in surprise. "I'm sorry about the whole thing back in the classroom. I'll make it up to you, somehow."

"I-Is it alright if I stay at your dad's? My dad doesn't like me now because of the medical bill of my surgery... I'm scared to go back to him..."

Uryu patted your back. "Don't worry, you can stay at my place if you want."

You smiled and hugged him back, trying to not shout in his ear. "Thank you!"

Uryu winced but gently patted you on the back, trying to help out with more of it later. Later on him helped pay for the medical bills, but your father still hated you afterwards. So Uyru took you in. It was a secret and Uryu had you learn all about the hollows.

Maybe getting a loud voice wasn't so bad after all. You got your crush and he understood your problem along with you knowing his problems with being lightheaded.
