I woke with a thudding pain filling my entire body. The room I was in, smelt like antiseptic and other strong chemicals. A monitor connected to my arm beeped annoyingly. The room was small, and cramped, with only one bed and an empty chair. Sitting up taller in my bed, I reached down and pulled the covers off of my legs. Small scratches and bruises scattered everywhere, making me gasp in shock.

I fiddled with the needle connected to the monitor, and pulled it out, a small red dot filling in its place. The beeping stopped, and was replaced with an urgent bleeping noise, filling the emptiness. The door smashed open, revealing a small and fragile looking lady, not even more than thirty, wearing a white uniform.

"You're up Miss Carmen." She smiled, coming over and switching off the monitor. She paced around the room, grabbing items and linen from shelves.

"Put these on, and meet all of the rest out in the foyer, Miss Carmen." She ordered, handing me a set of clothes. She left the room, closing the door loudly behind her.

What happened?

I shrugged in a black set of uniform. A purple gleam on my upper arm caught my eye. I pulled the sleeve of the shirt up higher, revealing a small glistening circle imprinted in my skin. In the middle of the circle, a symbol of a thunder bolt was placed. Turning my arm, I watched in awe as it glistened. What was it?

Deciding not to waste any more time, I pulled my sleeve over the symbol, covering it completely, and left the room which lead down a bright hallway. Sound of chattering and clashing of plates were at the hall. I walked down there, and opened up the push set of doors where huge tables and chairs scattered around it were placed. Everyone from my group were there, the ones who had not fallen. Some ate their food hungrily, others stared at it whilst not even talking to anybody. I moved further inside, looking around to see if I could find Cassidy. There she was.

She sat a few tables away by herself. Her back faced me, but even though I couldn't see her face, I knew it was her. I ran to her stopping just in time as I got to her.

"Cassidy!!" I shrieked, throwing my arms around her. Even though she was my twin sister, we did have our differences. She had darker eyes than I did, and wavier, brown hair. She cried out in delight, and threw her arms back around me.

"What happened to you?" I asked her, sitting down in the empty seat next to her.

"We started out first test obviously." She started. "I managed to stay alive the whole time, but then all of a sudden I think I blacked out or something and found myself here."

I searched her face. The same thing must have happened to all of us if it had happened to myself and Bonnie.

Bonnie.

"I'll be back." I said to Cassidy, and quickly searched the room, until I caught sight of Bonnie, heading to an empty table. She looked exhausted. Her bright eyes, now had dark circles forming underneath them.

"Bonnie!" I said to her, giving her a tight squeeze. She laughed in delight.

"Well, hello!" She said back, shining her white, pearly teeth at me.

I sat down next to her for a while, and ate with her. It must have been a while because I realised everyone had nearly finished eating.

"I'll see you later okay?" I said, squeezing her hand.

"Of course!" She said, beaming another of her warm smiles.

I started walking back until I caught sight of the boy I dragged. His eyes met mine, and there they stayed glaring at me. He stood up from his seat, as I came closer to him.

"Uh hi." I started, avoiding his stare.

He looked like he was going to punch me any second, but then a boy, sitting next to him, pulled him by his shirt to sit back down. He smirked as he sat down.

"Sit, Mason" the boy next to him murmured.

I glared at Mason as he reluctantly did so, anger than boiling up in me.

"Well Mason, it was nice meeting you." I said, shooting him a small smile, and sat back down next to Cassidy. Before we could start talking, a middle aged woman, strutted in the room, her hair slicked back into a tight bun. She was stunning, I had to admit. She walked to the centre of the room, taking a glance at every face.

"Hello everyone." She said, flashing a warm smile. There was a tinge of something cold to her voice at the same time. Something I felt uneasy about.

"Round two is just about to begin."
