Celeste Edgecombe sped up her walking, clutching a stack of textbooks and a quill in her arms while she quickly tried to reach her class on time.

"Oh!"

Crashing into someone walking the opposite way, her books and quill dropped to the floor while she herself fell backwards, someone heavy landing on her.

Muffled apologies escaped the flustered boy that had just begun to get off of her as he helped her up, handing her her things.

It was only when he got up that Celeste had a good look at him. An adorable yet awkward boy stood in front of her, a brown scruff of hair covering his forehead as he kept his head ever-so-slightly down.

"Terribly sorry, I'm just in a huge hurry." the boy muttered for the 5th time.

"It's quite all right." Celeste replied, giving him a weak smile.

"Hey--you're that quidditch chaser in the Hufflepuff team--Celeste, right?"

Surprised yet elated that he recognized me, Celeste nodded quickly. "And you are?"

"N-Newt. Newt Scamander."

She smiled at him. "Well, Newt, seeing as we are both terribly late for our classes, you should get going, shouldn't you?"

His eyes widened. "Merlin's beard, I have to get going, see you at the common room!" He yelled out, already meters away from Celeste as he dashed off to his class.

She gave a small wave, then ran off to her transfiguration class. That was how they became best friends.

"Wait! Don't you think this would be dangerous?" Celeste yelled to Leta Lestrange, trying to catch up with her quick running steps to the Forbidden Forest.

Leta chuckled. "Come on, Celeste, it'll be fun!"

"We could get expelled!" Celeste warned, panting as she watched Leta drag a worried but excited looking Newt to the forest.

When we got to the room, Celeste put my hands on my knees, panting hard.

"I'm," Pant. "better," Pant. "on a," Pant. "broom." She wheezed out, slowly standing up and entering the dark forest along with Newt and Leta.

"Hurry! It's here." Leta whispered, running to a hollow nest located next to a big tree trunk.

Despite the circumstances, Celeste couldn't help but feel mesmerized by the sight.

An dark but small Obscurus floated around the nest.

Her hand covered my mouth, and she let out a quiet but audible gasp.

"Is that--Is that a--"

"--Yep, an obscurus."

"B-but, those are dangerous!" Celeste said.

"I don't think its going to attack, its been here for weeks."

"But--"

"Hello? Is anyone there?!" Someone yelled, and Newt quickly grabbed both girls by the arms, pulling them behind a tree.

A light flashed the nest containing the obscurus, and Celeste sucked in a breath.

"Merlin's beard." The mystery person whispered, when suddenly the obscurus let out a jerk and crashed into the person, sending him flailing and smacking into the tree behind him. The person slid down the tree, falling unconscious, while the obscurus zoomed away from the Forbidden Forest, away from Hogwarts grounds, and out of sight.

Celeste was speechless. She stayed rigid on the spot, still processing what she had just seen. But Leta had already run off to the school, so Celeste was assuming she went to get a teacher for help.

Newt dashed to the person, and realizing it had been a Slytherin student, quickly checked him for any injuries.

Celeste, slowly recovering from her shock, ran up to help Newt carry the badly hurt student to the school. She slung one of the student's arms on her shoulder, and Newt slung the other arm on his shoulder. Together, they trudged slowly in uncomfortable silence up to the school, when the headmaster and their school nurse came stomping to them with Leta following him, looking strangely satisfied.

"Hi.. Professor." Celeste muttered sheepishly, scratching her neck impulsively.

"My office. Now."

The nurse, with the help of Leta, caught the student and walked up to the school, while the headmaster, with a sweep of his robes, walked briskly up to the school without another word.

Celeste and Newt looked at each other in worry and confusion, and, quickly followed the headmaster.

"I was informed that you and Newt both wandered off to the woods, looking after an obscurus."

"Headmaster, plea--"

"--Celeste had nothing to do with this, it was me who forced her to come to the woods. I found the obscurus and kept it." Newt feigned guilt, and Celeste's mouth opened and closed, no sound coming out. A mixture of feelings hit her. Shock, gratitude, and most of all, guilt.

"N-no! He's ly--"

"It's decided. Mr. Scamander is therefore expelled. And you will be put on probation. One more time, and I'll expel you too."

"Bu--"

"Leave. Now."

"Would you listen to me?!" Celeste yelled, and the Headmaster, quiet for a moment, replied softly.

"What did you just say?"

"I sai--"

But Professor Dumbledore, one of their teachers, stormed into the room, and had a quiet yet heated argument with the Headmaster.

"For the love of Merlin." Celeste whispered to herself, silently fuming for being cut off so many times, and secretly thanked Newt when he tried to reassure her by placing his hand on his shoulder and bringing her into a hug.

"There is no going back, Albus. Mr. Scamander will be expelled."

And when Professor Dumbledore slammed his hand on the table, everyone jumped, and, silently, he turned around in a scary calm way and led Newt and Celeste out of the room. Celeste couldn't help but notice that the usual glint in his eyes was gone.

"W-Will you be back?" Celeste asked, tears streaming down her face.

"Yes, I will Cel, I promise." And Newt, eyes a slight bit red, pulled Celeste into a hug, and kissed her temple, laying his chin on her head.

And it was the moment Newt entered the train station, and let from the Hogwarts Express alone, that Celeste realized that she couldn't continue breaking the rules. Celeste, so burdened by this, quit the Quidditch team (despite the pleas from the rest of the team), and went on a recluse. She was constantly bullied, especially because Leta had spread rumors around that she and Newt had found the obscurus and forced it to attack the student.

When Celeste finally graduated from the hellhole, she worked at the Ministry of Magic as an auror for a few months, and was apparently good enough to be requested to work for the Magical Congress of the United States of America on a case involving Gellert Grindelwald, a git of a dark wizard.
