Y/N had every intention of continuing to walk into the room, she really did. But when she heard her name being mentioned casually, she froze, listening as the boys spoke.

"You're just different with Y/N." Jack's voice floats over to her, and she just knows in her gut he was talking to Joe.

"What do you mean, different?" Her best friend replies, confusion laced through his words.

"Are you blind? Do we need to get you real glasses instead of those ones you wear all the time?" Oli teases, and Y/N knows Joe is blushing, running a hand through his hair. She smiles at the thought.

"Piss off." Joe mumbles. There's some chuckling from the other boys before he speaks again. "What do you mean though?"

"You're relaxed." Caspar joins in to the discussion. "You're more comfortable with her. And with us. You were weird with past girlfriends, always careful around them or even us. Not laughing at stuff I know you always laughed at."

"Making sure we didn't tell embarrassing stories." Josh adds.

"Or do anything embarrassing." Caspar continues. "Y/N just became one of us, part of our little group."

"We aren't complaining though!" Jack says quickly, and Y/N can imagine Joe opening his mouth to protest.

"Seriously, mate. She's awesome. It's nice that we can finally be ourselves without worrying about you getting all upset because your girlfriend is mad." Jack continues.

"And you don't worry when we're out in public." Oli points out, and there's hums of agreement.

"In public?" Joe mumbles his response.

"Well, you're all big and famous now." Oli explains. "So whenever you were out with your girlfriends, you were always careful. Making sure no one is watching. You barely stood beside them outside."

"But with Y/N, you don't care." Conor takes over speaking. "You two are always touching, it's disgustingly adorable. You don't care when it comes to her though, and it's refreshing actually. Nice to know that you actually do know how to show emotion." His smirk is evident in his words, even if Y/N can't see his face.

"You guys do remember that we aren't dating, right?" Joe asks, "We're just really close friends. Maybe that's why I'm more comfortable with her." He sounds almost defensive, and Y/N bites her lip as she listens to him talk. "I was actually dating those other girls, so things had to be different."

There's laughter in response, along with someone mumbling, "Oh, Joe..."

"Mate, you love her." Jack's words surprise Y/N, and apparently Joe as well, since the room falls silent.

"Awe, he's blushing." Conor chuckles. "I don't think he realized it before."

"Seriously?" Caspar asks. "Joe, everyone knows. Except Y/N. I mean, when have you ever been so close to someone? Been so comfortable with someone? Who is the one person you always think of when you want to tell something exciting too, something sad too, something incredibly stupid too?"

"Y/N." Joe says simply. "It's always Y/N." His voice is hushed, and Y/N can feel her heart racing, leaning in closer to catch his next words. "Shit, I love her."

"You really didn't realize this before?" Josh's tone is surprised.

"I...I never admitted it out loud before." Joe admits.

"Congrats, mate." Oli laughs, and she can hear him clap his shoulder. "Now you just have to tell her."

Realizing she is still standing there, listening to this conversation, Y/N turns and slips out the door, making sure it closes silently. She remains in the hallway for a few minutes, letting her mind process all that she just heard.

Joe loves her.

Her mind runs a mile a minute, thinking about what the boys had said, how Joe was with her, and she realizes that it's the same for her. Her go to person is Joe, always has been. And it's because she loves him too. Smiling, she shakes her head and turns to walk back into the apartment, making it well known when she enters.

"Look who decided to bloody show up!" Josh calls out, being the first person to see her.

"Sorry, traffic." Y/N smiles at him, waving hello to the boys.

When her eyes land on Joe, she feels her heart skip a beat, a warm feeling settling in her chest when he smiles a hello at her.

"You haven't missed much, don't worry." Joe tells her as she moves to take her seat beside him, their shoulder's touching when she's settled.

"That's because the fun never starts until I get here. Duh." She rolls her eyes, laughing at the various protests from the boys.

"Now that you are here though," Caspar grins over at her. "We can start filming!"

"Oh, yes!" Conor turns to face her. "You owe me a singing video!"

"No, I call dibs on her first!" Jack pushes his brother. "I was going to get her to do a challenge for my channel."

"You'll all get your turn." Y/N tells them, "But unfortunately best friend's get first dibs. So Joe wins over all of you."

"Told you she'd say that." Joe grins at his friends who grumble about it being unfair.

A couple of hours later, the boys have all left, leaving Y/N and Joe alone in his flat. She feels nervous as she walks into the room where he's putting away his filming equipment.

She didn't want to keep it a secret that she knew, wanting everything to be out in the open. But she also wanted to wait until the boys had left, knowing it would be easier to talk to Joe.

"You're becoming quite popular in the YouTube world." He tells her, glancing over his shoulder at her. "In high demand for all of the channels!" He chuckles, turning his attention back to the tripod in his hand.

"It's always been you too." She blurts out. Y/N watches as Joe's shoulders tense, his back to her. He finishes collapsing the tripod, placing it on the bed in front of him before he turns to face her.

"You heard." His voice is barely a whisper, and even though it isn't a question, she nods in response.

"I didn't mean to eavesdrop." She takes a step forward. "I just heard my name, and stopped, and then if I had walked in, it would have been weird. And then I just really wanted to know what you were all talking about. But when I realized what it was, I couldn't leave. Because I had to know. I needed to know. I'm sorry. I shou-" She never gets to finish because Joe suddenly crosses the room, taking her face in his hands, their lips crashing together. Y/N slides her arms around him, her body relaxing into his, kissing him back.

"I love you." He mumbles against her lips, his thumb rubbing against her cheek.

"I know." She replies, giggling when he lets out a small growl. "I love you too."

He kisses her again, his arms moving down to her waist, pulling their bodies flush together while one of her hands moves up into his hair, loving the feeling of his body under her hands, the feeling of his touch across hers.

Whoever said eavesdropping was bad was very wrong, Y/N decided as Joe backed her up against the wall. Because if it lead to moments like this, she would gladly eavesdrop every day.
