Season: Three

Episode(s): Arrow on the Doorpost

*Ryan's POV*

Rick, Daryl, and Daddy had left to sort out a treaty with the Governor. Glenn was left in charge.

We checked out all the guns laid in front of us. Michonne cocked one.

"Carl, come here," Glenn motioned. He handed the kid a pack of bullets. "You stash these at the loading dock. Alright? Beth, put more up on the catwalk. If anyone gets pinned down, we need to make sure that they have plenty of ammo. I'll go work on the cage outside."

"What we should be doin' is loadin' some of this firepower in a truck and payin' a visit to the Governor," Merle spoke up. I ain't psychic, but I already knew that this was gonna go downhill. "We know where he is right now."

"Are you suggesting that we just go in and kill him?" Glenn asked, as if the idea was ridiculous.

"You wanted to do the same thing not a day ago," I scoffed.

"We told Rick and Daryl that we'd stay put," Michonne said.

"I've changed my mind, sweetheart," Merle shrugged. "Bein' on the sidelines with my brother out there ain't sittin' right with me."

"The three of them are right in the middle of it," Glenn said. "No idea we're coming. They could get taken hostage or killed. A thousand things could go wrong."

"And they will," Merle added.

"My dad can take care of himself," Carl snarled.

"Sorry, son, but your dad's head could be on a pike real soon," Merle said coldly.

"Don't say that to him," Maggie said.

"It's not the right move," Glenn said. "Not now. Can't take the risk of putting them in the crossfire. That's my decision. It's final." He left the building with a blowtorch and a gun.

Glenn returned soon after finishing his chore. Tension was still running high. Merle had taken a bag and was loading it with ammo and gun.

"Dude, seriously?" I scoffed. "Now is so not the time."

"Hey, you're not going!" Glenn exclaimed.

"I don't need permission," Merle said.

"I can't let you," Glenn said.

"You can't stop me," Merle retorted.

"If you're gonna live here with us, it's gonna be on our terms," Maggie added. "If Michonne can do it, why can't you?"

"'Cause it's my brother out there, that's why!" Merle exclaimed. "What's the matter with y'all?" He started up the stairs. Glenn blocked his way.

"I'm not gonna let you put them in danger," Glenn hissed.

"Nut up already, boy," Merle growled. His remaining fist clenched around the bag. "This guy cops a feel of your woman and you pussy out like this? Get out of my way."

"No," Glenn said boldly.

"Oh, now you've done it," I sighed and face-palmed. As if on cue, Merle socked Glenn in the gut.

"Get out of my way!" Merle repeated his previous statement. Glenn wrapped his arms around his waist and threw himself down the stairs. The two wrestled for a bit. Maggie leaped onto Merle and tried to pry him off.

"Get off!" she screamed. Michonne grabbed Merle's fake hand.

I noticed Beth reaching for her gun. I recognized her plan right away. I pushed her hand down.
