Epilogue

*Ryan's POV*

The war against the Saviors lasted a full year. At first we thought we had really lost this. Negan's army was completely relentless. 

Dwight came through with his promise and had the workers at the Sanctuary join us. Finally, we outnumbered the Saviors, after Oceanside joined us, of course. 

The war officially ended when we blew the Sanctuary to bits, along with Negan and Simon. 

We celebrated with a big feast and a street party at Alexandria. Everyone from the Hilltop, Kingdom, and Oceanside was there. The angel had gotten its revenge. Dwight found Sherry and the two joined us. Eugene managed to drag his ass back into our fold as well.

And then, one week later, Daryl took me out on a supply run. 

I should've suspected something when I saw a sign for Atlanta. 

I had never been happier to see my dad's farm. The barn was ashes on the ground, but the house was still standing. 

Daryl proposed to me in the field. We got married several days later at Alexandria. Kudos to Gabriel for marrying us. 

Enid was in tears of joy when we asked her to become our daughter. She happily said yes. 

Months later, Maggie gave birth to a healthy baby boy whom she named Hershel Jr. 

A few more months later, Tara agreed to be a surrogate mother for Daryl and I. And in nine months, Maia Jade Dixon was brought into the world. 

Rick and Michonne had their own baby and named him Michael Andre Grimes. 

Tara and Rosita also became an official couple and, I quote, have "Super-Mega-Awesome Pride Parties at Eric and Aaron's house". 

I never thought I'd see this. I had a family of my own. And I owe it all to Merle Dixon. 

The angel is at peace.

The angel is resting. 

The angel is good. 

Thanks, angel. Thank you for crawling out of your hiding place, killing your God, and giving me peace.
