Chapter Five

"Not-so-stranger"

"Thirty-eight days left to find Jungkook's body," Jimin murmured to himself as he placed a cross mark on a certain date in the calendar.

Jungkook hummed in agreement, "But before that, you should eat breakfast. Do you know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day? It'll give you a good boost and energy to start your day!"

"Uh You sound excited?" Jimin asked as he walked out of his room, he spotted Yoongi sprawled on the sofa watching television.

Yoongi perked his head up to look at Jimin with squinted eyes. "Hey. I want bacon for breakfast. And I forgot to wash the dishes yesterday." He informed before yawning raising a fist to rub at his eyes.

"Good morning to you too." Jimin ignored the other and proceeded to their kitchenette to start cooking. He was used to waking up with dishes piled up in the kitchen sink when he's not around. Jimin ate dinner at Namjoon's house yesterday so Yoongi was left alone.

"Man...He's really lazy."

Jimin looked at Yoongi to check if the older was looking at him and when he saw that Yoongi was too focused on the television Jimin took the opportunity to reply, "He's not that bad, you just haven't seen him work his ass off just so he could finish writing a song. He's really determined and he's a brother to me." He defended while putting the pan on the stove.

"Why do you cook for him?"

"We're friends... why wouldn't I? I care for him and I think that's enough reason... weren't you listening?" Jimin whispered, glancing at his hyung.

"You're so kind hearted. I can't believe I'll ruin your innocence."

"I'm not a kid, I'm old enough so don't tell me I'm innocent," Jimin stated as he worked on frying the bacon strips and started to set the table before going over to the rice cooker.

Jungkook whistled. "Cool. Noted."

"You're such a pervert, what made you so horny?" Jimin shook his head in distaste as he placed the bowl of rice on the table, he was happy that Yoongi decided to cook rice earlier.

"Hot girls and cute boys... damn I do sound like an old pervert but believe me I'm not. I'm hot too, just so you know."

Jimin scoffed, "Yeah keep telling yourself that, you narcissist."

"Is it wrong that I find myself hot? You should see my face, you'll be blown away."

Jimin shook his head with disapproval, "I don't want to be overly excited for nothing. It's good to not have any expectations so when I see you in real flesh I wouldn't think you're a downgrade version of Taeyang."

"Taeyang who? From Bigbang?" Jungkook asked.

"Oh, you know them?"

"Yeah, I remember...I'm a fan of G-dragon and you just wait and anticipate this hottie."

"Would you stop? You're so disturbi—"

"Who're you talking to?"

Jimin was startled that he jumped, he slowly looked at his Hyung who's eyeing him skeptically. "N-no one."

Yoongi raised an eyebrow suspiciously, "What's the matter with you? You know you could always tell me." Jimin stared at his hyung and saw the concern swimming in his eyes. Jimin was touched that Yoongi cared so much.

"I'm fine." Jimin flashed his eyesmile, he didn't want to lie but he thinks that Yoongi won't believe him just yet. "Oh look, the bacon's done!" Jimin chimed as he rushed to turn off the stove and scoop the slices of bacon from the pan.

---

"Where are you off to?" Yoongi asked as he grabbed Jimin's shoulder before the younger could walk out of the door. Jimin wanted to make a run for it but his hyung look like he wants an honest answer. He knows that to his hyung he might seem to be acting weird and there's no denying that. He trusts Yoongi but telling him he has a voice in his head? Who in the right mind would believe him?

"Yeah I'm going to look for something—" Jimin answered trailing off looking straight into Yoongi's eyes so the older would know that he isn't lying. He really wasn't. His plan for today was to look for Jungkook's body.

The older raised an eyebrow but didn't ask what he was looking for and instead mumbled, "Okay." Yoongi nodded but he looked a little unconvinced. "Keep safe." He last said before walking back to the coach.

"I will." Jimin nodded, walking out of their shared apartment.

"What's the plan again?"

"To look for your body silly!" Jimin giggled.

"I know but how?"

"We'll ask if anyone knows you, we'll start at the nearest hospital to check if you're confined."

"And what? You'll hunt me down by going to all of the hospitals in Seoul? Are you out of your mind? There are probably hundreds who have the same name as me!"

Jimin stopped in his track and gnawed at his bottom lip, "I...I didn't think this through actually..." He admitted after sighing, there are over 10 million people in Seoul. "We could still give it a shot."

"A hopeless shot."

"There's no other choice! I just think that a body without a soul would probably be lying somewhere... like a hospital bed...unless you're dead?"

"I'm not...I can't explain but believe me, I'm not dead however this is still preposterous."

"But you could recognize your face, right? If they allow us to look at the patient's record we could easily find you!" Jimin said optimistically.

"I can but that's not as easy as it seems and I don't think they'd let you pry on the patient's records, isn't that confidential?"

"Look, I don't know! How am I supposed to find you then? At least I'm doing something to help." Jimin pouted, he felt useless because he really didn't know much about the voice except his name. It really was a hopeless shot, there was a brief silence before Jungkook spoke.

"Just don't tire yourself too much."

Jimin almost wanted to coo at the care in Jungkook's tone. "Of course I won't."

---

"We're really sorry, that's classified information and how are you related to the patient again?" The receptionist asked looking at Jimin a bit suspiciously.

Jimin fidgeted with his fingers nervously and his eyes were looking at everywhere except the woman intimidating him with her piercing gaze. "Uh, I'm—we're friends... But I'm just concerned because he hasn't shown up for days." Jimin blurted out biting at his bottom lip tensely.

"We're sorry but we can't just allow non related visitors to look at the patient's records and also, there are a lot of Jeon Jungkook in this hospital alone. Furthermore, you can't even provide enough information for us." She said in a matter-of-fact tone before lifting her sleek eyebrow at Jimin.

"B-But—"

"Sorry sir. Are there any other concerns because if not I'm going to entertain other visitors now." She said pointing at the queue behind Jimin.

Jimin didn't have much choice but to leave, he walked out of the hospital mumbling a 'Thank you' to the receptionist but without bowing. When he was out in the street he covered his mouth with his hand and started to walk home. "This sucks. You don't remember your age? Are you kidding me? You just placed me in a hot seat back there, I looked like an idiot."

"I never did encourage you in the first place. You didn't look like an idiot because you are an idiot."

"Hey! I'm trying to help you!"

"Okay, I'm sorry." Jungkook said apologetically.

"Now what?"

"Let's wait."

Jimin frowned, "For what?!"

"For me to remember some valuable memories."

Jimin was at a loss, he groaned rubbing his face in dismay, "So my attempt is fruitless. What do I do now? Where am I going to waste my time?"

"Why do you keep on asking me? Why don't you ask yourself?"

"Maybe because there are two minds in my head? At least use yours." Jimin grumbled as he continued walking in the busy street, careful not to draw so much attention by lowering his voice and covering his mouth completely with his hand.

Jungkook laughed, "Okay, let me think." He hummed, "I don't remember all just a few but I don't think you'd find my hobbies interesting..."

"Try me."

"Bowling? You like bowling?"

"It's not bad... but—"

"Thought so. What else, I'll cross out 'partying' as an option. What about Dancing?"

"I love dancing..." He stated with a smile. The chilly breeze was seeping through his jacket and he raised his other hand hugging himself to provide himself more warmth.

"Oh you do?"

"Yeah but I don't hit the dance studio during weekdays." Jimin said, "Is that all you do?"

"I think I still have tons babyboy, but are you up to the challenge?" Jungkook teased and Jimin could feel that Jungkook is up to no good.

"Actually no. Let's just go home." Jimin gives up changing his path.

"You're seriously no fun. I have a list of fun things we could try back in the house too. First, you could call me Daddy—"

"—Nevermind."

---

"I really hope you'll remember something tomorrow that'll be useful that could help you," Jimin said as he lied down in his bed.

"Hopefully. Goodnight Babyboy, don't need to stress yourself up. I'm happy you're willing to help let's...enjoy our days together."

"Yeah...Goodnight Jungkook."

Jimin never thought he'd be friends with Jungkook, but he was wrong. Since Jungkook was with him 24/7 whether he likes it or not he has no choice but to accept the situation and engage in a conversation. And surprisingly enough he actually started to like the voice naturally, and after a few days he started to feel comfortable and a little dependent to him.
