Human ~~ Jasper Whitlock - Hale ~~~

I am still in Jasper's arms on the couch when I wake up, the fire has went out though. Jasper smiles at my open eyes and he calls for Rosalie. She hands me my clothes before sending me up to her room.

I get dressed in my outfit for the day before lacing up my combat boots. I put on my skull ring before stuffing my phone in my back pocket. I brush my long hair and I run up to visit my mom.

"Hi. Pen." Mom says between harsh coughs. "Doctor gives me a few weeks."

I sigh sadly. "I'll miss you today,  I have school."

I hug my mom and I kiss her forehead. I go down and meet Jasper at his dodge truck. I climb into his truck and I fasten my seatbelt.

"Pen, wanna make things official between us?" He asks.

"As in become a couple?" I question, puzzled.

He groans before he chuckles. "Yes, as in becoming a couple."

"Oh, then of course." I reply. "I'll be your girlfriend."

He parks in his usual parking spot when I answer. We hold hands entering the school.

We are all standing at the vehicles across the lot while watching Isabella read at her beat up truck. Jasper as his arm tossed around my shoulder while Edward stares a hole through her.

Suddenly, we hear wheels squealing on the blacktop, as if crashing. I see a black van swerving towards Bella. Edward flashes over and he stops the can. Rosalie curses loudly and she gets in her car, to meet them at the hospital. Jasper sends a wave of calm through the student body before he drifts me away.

Rosalie and Edward are arguing when Carlisle exits the emergency room. He goes and chats with them privately.

"Can I talk to you?" We hear a feminine voice ask.

We turn and see Isabella, staring at Edward as if she is hypnotized. Jasper groans before we leave for home. I go straight to my mom's home hospital room. Dad has showed up.

"It is a week, baby." Mom says weakly. "Maybe less. I keep getting weaker."

Her heart monitor slows and I dial Carlisle's number fast. He answers right as her monitor stops.

"She is dying! Come home!" I scream before throwing my phone.

Jasper runs up and he holds me back from climbing in my mother. Dad is sobbing when Carlisle comes running in. Jasper drags me out and Emmett escorts dad into the backyard. Jasper takes me onto the balcony on the second floor and he talks to me soothingly.

"She is dead, isn't she?" I ask.

"Yeah, her heartbeat is done and I don't smell her blood flowing." Jasper says sadly. "It will be okay, Penelope Peterson. I am here."

I throw myself into his arms when he says the last three words. Jasper immediately wraps his arms around me, holding me tightly. He watches behind me and Carlisle comes out.

"Your father is leaving the funeral and things up to me, the adoption will take place tomorrow." Carlisle says. "You guys will miss school for the rest of the week."

I break down on my knees and the tears escape uncontrollably. Jasper sends Rosalie out to help me. She is my closest friend in this family. Rosalie tucks my hair behind my ear and she hugs me. She whispers her story into my ear. I takes my mind off this.

"So, you were beaten to death before you could be wedded and to conceive a child?" I ask, shocked. "That's devastating!"

"I know." Rosalie sighs. "I never chose this life."

"I know, I don't see how anyone could." I shrug.

"I agree." Rosalie says. "But if you were dying, I wouldn't hesitate to change you, we can't lose someone so precious to us."

I smile and I snuggle against her. We lay against the outer wall and we watch the stars. Rosalie is my best friend in this house and the school. We had become closer than Alice and I. Jasper may be my boyfriend, but Rosalie has calmed me down tonight.

"Let's get you to bed." Rosalie whispers.

I let her carry my upstairs. I strip to my under garments before I collapse into my bed. Rosalie sits on the chair with a book. I smile tiredly before closing my eyes. Sleep consumes me immediately.
