"S-she's dead?" Phil repeated.
"Unfortunately so. The paramedics did everything they could, she died on the way to the hospital."
"I-I should've d-done more." Phil mumbled. "I could've st-topped it."
"Mr Lester, we are very aware that you did your very best to save Caroline but there was nothing you could have done. Do not blame yourself for her death."
"Her name was Caroline?"
The police officer nodded.
"I'm sorry, Mr Lester, I can give you a moment with your partner but I need to collect a witness statement soon." The police officer said, getting up from the chair leaving Dan and Phil alone.
Phil leant against Dan's chest, whimpers leaving his lips as Dan help him close.
