Colin paced in front of the Insepctor Coulby. Coulby just sighed and rubbed his face. Colin, just wasn't the same.

"C'mon Col, sit down"

"I can't. Do you know how frustrating it is when your wife's been murdered, it's only been three months and the police are closing the case?!" Colin bellowed.

Coulby groaned and put his elbows on his knees and rested his head on his hands, looking down at the floor.

"Why are they doing this? There's a raping murderer out there! What they're waiting for him to strike again?! They'll, they'll only do something about it when there's another corpse? My wife was better than that! She was, she made this world a better place and you bastards that are supposed to keep people like her safe, you failed, and now you won't even bring her murderer to justice?!"

"Alright Colin that's enough! Calm it! You know why we're closing the case. You know we wouldn't have let any harm come to her" Coulby said now standing.

"Yeah, well now look at her, burried in the cemetary, rotting. All because you guys couldn't help but satisfy your craving for donuts" Colin sneered.

"Mr Barker!"

Colin glared at the police man on his couch and pointed to the front door.

"You people disgust me. My wife. My beautiful, loving, caring wife." Colin started to breakdown.

Coulby watched as Colin's face controted, holding back his tears and sobs.

"I wasn't supposed to loose her till I was at least eighty" Colin whimpered.

Coulby couldn't help but smile sympathetically at his now-friend. He wrapped his arm around Colin's shoulders. Colin tried to shrug them off but was so weak from the emotional distress, he couldn't. Coulby watched Colin, he knew the thought processes going through his mind. Colin Barker was a good man, an honest, gentle and dependable man. He loved his work and his friends and family. Above all that his wife was number one. Colin sat down on the couch and clutched his head with his hands.

"We were waiting to see if she was pregnant. We were trying to have kids"

That got Coulby. His heartstrings had finally been pulled. He wasn't in love with anyone, but he was a father and the thought of loosing one of his kids...he couldn't bare it. Of course the police knew from the autopsy report that Layla was in fact a week pregnant, but Coin didn't know, Colin didn't need to know, not right now. If this was the way he was from loosing only his wife, what would he be like if he knew he lost his first child too? Coulby felt horrible with holding that information, but they knew it was for the best, just untl he recovered from the initial shock right now. Although, he was also holding back another piece of important information.

"Colin. There's something, I've been meaning to tell you"

Colin took a moment then looked up at the police officer before him. Coulby could loose his job for what he was about to do, but he had got to know Colin over the past three months and they were good friends.

"Out with it" Colin growled.

"I could loose my job"

Colin's eyes lit up and he stood up from the couch and latched onto Coulby.

"It's about my Layla isn't it?"

"Yes. Look, Colin, they. They know something about the murderer"

"What?! Who was it?! Why on Earth would you hide this from me?!"

Coulby pushed Colin off him and took off his hat, he held it to his chest. Colin gave his his undivided attention.

"Colin, I'm not taking the piss. We aren't continuing the case."
