Chapter Thirteen-Different
Liam
Her list was simple, yet she hadn’t done more than half the things written on the paper.
1. Go on a road trip
2. Send a message in a bottle
3. Sleep under the stars
4. Play in front of an audience
5. Visit a REAL haunted house at night
6. Go cliff diving
7. Experience a sunrise
8. Compose a beautiful and inspiring piece
9. Ride on the back of a motorcycle – I only want to do this ONCE (and definitely with a helmet on)
10. Fall in love – real and true love
11. Go hiking
12. Kiss under a mistletoe
13. Ride a mattress down a staircase
14. Go to a drive in movie
15. Be at two places at once
16. Milk a cow
17. Learn how to surf
18. Dance under the moonlight
19. Go horseback riding
20. Be able to count all the stars in the sky (I know this one is a lost cause but I can try!)
21. Make a difference in someone’s life
The only things that were crossed off her list were numbers 4, 9, 11, and 14. I couldn’t hide the smile that played on my lips as I read number 9 crossed off again. Ever since I went home last Friday night and read her list I couldn’t stop myself from reading it over and over again when I was alone. I lifted my gaze from my phone and glanced at Anya sitting at a table a few feet away.
The sun shined on her hair, making it lighter than it actually was. She was laughing, her big brown eyes glowing with glee as she took a bite of an apple, and tried to suppress the laugh that played on her lips. There was no trace of sickness marring her face. She was happy, and looked better than I had seen her in a long time.
