The Dead Zone.

The words like acid on the citizens' tongues. It's the part of them that they wish they could forget, that they wished was non existent. The part of their paper city that they wish they could remove. It is where they put everyone who didn't matter. Orphans, the homeless, the poor. They tried to rid their paper city of any dirt, leaving it spotless.

Little did they know, that slowly, they were creating something irreversible. For their attempt to clean their city worked, all the murderers, thieves flocked to the area, and were trapped there by the government. Gates filled with electricity cut them off from the rest of the world. And nobody entered, unless of course, they had a death wish.

You cannot say nobody left. The greedy ones who lived outside of the Dead Zone, would slowly come to the gate. Money exchanged hands, and almost as soon as the Arcane (as the residents of the Dead Zone were called) left, a body was left in their wake.

The Dead Zone is close to Hell on Earth. Inside the gates, the sun doesn't shine, the streets are never clean, and food is scarce. Yet some people thrive in darkness. And thrive they do.
