Himoko's POV (Before the Trials)

Me and Karlie entered the throne room to see Pappy adorning purple, blue, and green royal robes making us both cringe at the sight

"So, what do ya think?"

"No offense your highness, but your fashion taste is not the best." Karlie deadpanned, her eyes looking everywhere but him to not stain her eyes of the image of him wearing those specific robes. Pappy turned towards me, his arms spread wide

"How about it, Himoko."

"No comment." He huffed before pouting childishly

"No sense of style..." He grumbled under his breath before we heard the door open behind us. I turned around to see the Avatar walk in with two guards flanking at his side

"First, Avatar, what do you think of my new outfit? I want your honest opinion." Pappy asked him and Karlie sighed beside me, face palming. I coughed awkwardly while the Avatar held no reaction, completely dumbfounded by the question

"I'm waiting." Pappy stated impatiently, leaning forward slightly as the boy snapped out of his trance

"I... Guess it's fine." He shrugged and Pappy smiled excitedly

"Excellent! You passed the first test."

"Really?" He asked with hope in his eyes. Pappy stopped himself from speaking, thinking for a moment, "Well, not one of the deadly tests. The real challengers are much more... Challenging." I snorted quietly at how he worded the sentence. The Avatar's expression became one of anger, thrusting himself forward with air towards my Great-Grandfather

"I don't have time for your crazy games! Gimme my friends back! We're leaving!" He ordered glaring up at him

"Ohh, I thought you might refuse..." I watched as the wall between Pappy and the Avatar was made into a door, guards holding the water tribe girl and boy in the corridor. I saw them begin to place small rings on their fingers, first being loose before becoming snug as a bug. They began trying to pull the rings off of their fingers but no avail, couldn't. My eyes widened in shock, suddenly realizing what those rings were made out of. I turned my attention back to Pappy to see him beginning to explain what was happening

"...So I will give your friends some special souvenirs. Those delightful rings are made of pure jennamite, also known as creeping crystal. It's crystal that grows remarkably fast. By nightfall your friends will be completely covered in it. Terrible fate, really. I can stop it, but only if you cooperate." I watched as the ring on the boy's finger already beginning to creep up his finger

"Ah! It's already creeping!" He yelled out in shock with panic consuming his mind

"I'll do as you want." I heard the Avatar tell Pappy who only grinned evilly. We ventured to the cavern before coming to see a waterfall flowing down, stalagmites covering the cavern floor. We stood on the balcony while the Avatar, which I learned the name of as Aang from the two water tribe members behind me, stood on a small stone parapet. I glanced behind me to see the jennamite already covering both of their forearms. Pappy suddenly laugh, startling me back to reality

"It seems I've lost my lunch box key and I'm hungry." Pappy pouted before pointing over to the waterfall. Upon closer inspection, a key was dangling down in the middle of the water by a long chain, a ladder under neath it, "Ooo, there it is. Would you mind fetching it for me?"

Aang jumped into action, using his airbending skills flawlessly, jumping from stalagmite to stalagmite. With another burst of air, he charges into the waterfall and begins to climb up the ladder, only getting up a few feet before the water pressure began stopping him from going any further, trying his best to hold on
