Chapter 2 - The Grey Haze

I felt my eyes open to the light, my waking mind seeking sight of its environment, but there was not a true sight before me, all was blurred and black.
I tried to shake my head, but found it held fast by something to its left and right. I tried to raise my head, instead, but, after I got a short ways up, my head was wrenched back downward, colliding into something soft, a pillow? I couldn't tell, and my focus was soon taken away from me by a ringing in my ears, accompanied by a whitening of my vision, soon reaching some sort of grey shade.
Something jolted my head upwards again, and I felt a sting against my cheek as the ringing and the grey vanished, my sight returning with my hearing, saving me from this temporary world of nothingness...
