"And you really think you're fit for the task?"

The queen's voice probably would've sounded callous or underestimating to someone who didn't know the current problem she was facing, but Victor knew she was just under a lot of stress due to her current problem. He didn't know that because he knew her, to be quite frank he didn't know her personally whatsoever. Hell, had you told Victor a week ago he'd be standing in front of the queen he would've called you crazy, and even now that it was happening he'd still call you crazy. He felt like he was going insane just being in the same room as her, like she was just some hallucination. A little weird, but the queen had done so much for the country and the people that using the word honor to describe what Victor felt to be in the same room wouldn't cover ever a smidgen of what he felt.

The silver haired man nodded "yes I do, Queen Hiroko."

The woman didn't even slow in the slightest as she paced back and forth in front of Victor "So, you'd be willing to save my son no matter what the cost for as long as you're his guard?" Before he could respond she stopped and met his gaze "Because trust me, you'll have probabsly have a life and death type of situation everyday with him."

Victor nodded "I understand that, and I am more than willing to do everything in my power to keep your son safe, even if it means sacrificing my own life."

She sighed "You're lucky I'm desperate. You'll start immediately tomorrow. When you decide to quit just come and talk to me again."

He blinked a few times in slight surprise "Thank you, Queen Hiroko, but I assure you I won't be quitting until I land myself in a grave."

She gave him a wary smile "Oh dear. I like your optimism but please, don't make promises you can't keep. It's not too obvious from afar but my son is fairly troublesome."

Victor dipped his head respectfully "Either way, I will do my best to meet your expectations your highness."

"Very well, you're excused. We'll meet again tomorrow."
