When they returned, Victor didn't even have to tell the prince his mother had wanted to see him, because he was already walking there, leaving the silver haired man to trail behind him.
The boy walked with her head held high and a little bounce in his step, Victor wouldn't have expected him to seem so confident when he was about to get in trouble but he had decided long ago royals were unpredictable.
As they found the door, Prince Yuuri turned to Victor "You might want to stay out here. I'm about to get a lifetime's worth of scolding."
Before Victor could even lift a finger, the boy was slipping away into the room.
And damn was he right.
He had never heard the queen yell, but she sounded like an American watching football, not only was she loud like one but her words had definitely loss their class too.
Yuuri walked out of the room- much to Victor's surprise- looking totally unfazed by the Queen's scolding, he just looked a little numb, or at least that's how Victor would describe it.
They walked in silence until they ended up in what looked to be a lounge room or something, but Victor was never good at distinguishing royal rooms. The prince turned to him once in the room, asking a question out of the blue.
"Have you decided to quit yet?"
Now Victor really was surprised "Quit what?"
"Your job as my guard."
"No, of course not. Why?"
The ravenette rolled his eyes, crossing his arms "I just stole a pig."
"So?"
"Normal guards would get freaked out about that."
"Wait, so you're saying you do this with all your guards?"
"No, today was a first, but maybe I should." There was a pause in the conversation as Yuuri sat on top of the back of the couch. Not actually on the couch, just on the back of it "Anyways, have you ever guarded a royal before?"
Victor looked up and raised an eyebrow, a little confused why the boy was so set on talking to him, because he in fact had served a royal before who had treated him like he was a ghost 90% of the time, but then again there was the royal before that who couldn't seem to keep his hands off him for five seconds. This prince was the only one who seemed genuinely curious about him.
"Uhm, yeah actually. I served both Prince Seung-gil Lee and Christophe Giacometti."
"Oh no, I know Chris." Judging by the look on the ravenette's face, he had the same experiences as Victor.
This made him laugh "I'm guessing he wasn't just a little... handsy... with me?"
"If I had a dollar for every time he's touched my butt I'd have more money than my mother! And that's saying something.."
"Yeah, I totally understand, I was his guard for nearly eight months when his parents sent him to a fancy prince school to 'fix him',"
"They were homophobic?" The boy tilted his head.
Victor chuckled "Oh no, they just wanted Chris to stop being so horny, or at least less horny in public. They were fine with him being gay."
Yuuri laughed too, and Victor realized what a truly heavenly sound it was.
"So, do you like guarding royals? Or do you like the lower key jobs, like guarding a certain government member or something."
"Oh no, I love royals- guarding them that is." He cut himself off lightly before continuing "I don't know why, because if anything it's harder, but it's kind of cool to see their mansions and how they really are out of the public eye."
"Hm... interesting."
"Why's that?"
The boy grinned at him "Well, most guard think it's just troublesome and that all royals are just angry toddlers, but I think it's pretty cool you feel that way."
They sat in a somewhat comfortable silence after that, Victor looking around the room curiously as he decided which question he wanted to ask.
"Why does everyone make you out to be so bad? You seem really nice."
The prince looked a little surprised by the question "I-uh... I don't know? I guess I'm just a little problematic is all. Most guards don't want to be chasing after their royal constantly."
Victor tossed the boy a Cheshire Cat grin "But isn't that the fun part?"
He swore he could see a slight dusting of pink settle itself onto the boy's cheeks "That's not how most guards see it."
"Well, maybe I'm not like most guards."
The ravenette's lips curved upward.
"Maybe."
