The news broadcasted something that changed my life forever. A disease was rapidly spreading across the world causing every living thing to die. We were gathered around the television when we heard the news. No one could withstand the disease. My mother crying. My dad comforting her. It was all too much. I stood up and ran out the front door.

I found my way into the forest. I collapsed onto the forest floor. Crying. Screaming. It couldn't be real. I stayed there for hours. I was going to die. I was going to die like every other person in the world. I wouldn't ever get married. Have kids. Go into space as an astronaut. It wasn't fair.

I was so wrong.

My best friend Kaylee was outside in her porch. She saw me walking home and called me over. Being Kaylee, she greeted me with a hug and told me she had a party planned.

"We are going to die, so we should live while we still can!" She exclaimed.

"Ok, fine." I responded.

I might have let on that I wasn't excited for that party, but I really was. Kaylee always knew how to make the best out of situations.

"Yay!" Kaylee said excitedly. "The party is tomorrow night and starts at 8:00.

"Ok. I have to head home now but I'll see you tomorrow!"

My parents were sitting on the couch when I got home. They had made plans to eat with Kaylee's parents tomorrow night. Kaylee's parents are really good friends with my mom and dad. My parents had invited them over when they heard the bad news.

We ate dinner in silence. Every one of us was thinking about the days to come. The disease was supposed to hit our town tomorrow at midnight.
