I didn't get any sleep the night before the party. I was so angry and upset that this was going to happen. I slipped out of my bed and walked into my closet. I put on some jeans and a long sleeve shirt. I slipped my hair into a messy bun and did my makeup. My parents were still sleeping. It was 4:00 though so it makes sense. Was I the only one worried about this? I went downstairs and made myself breakfast. Fried eggs and cinnamon toast. My favorite breakfast ever. Now it was time to go to Kaylee's house to get ready for the party.
Kaylee likes to go big for parties, so that's why I got up at 4:00 in the morning. We had a lot of work to do.
It was silent as I walked to Kaylee's house. No birds were chirping. No cars were leaving for their early morning jobs. Everyone was staying home with their families for the last day of their lives. I finally made it to Kaylee's house. She was sitting on her front porch with a clipboard in her hand writing things down. It wasn't until I was standing in front of her and called out her name that she noticed me.
"Kaylee! Are you alive in there!" I teased.
She looked up at me and laughed. Then she got her serious expression back on. She slipped a piece of paper of her clipboard and handed it to me.
"Go and find all these things at stores." She said. "You don't need money. You can basically walk into any store and grab what you want." She informed me.
"Ok." I said. "How will I get there?"
"You can use my car."
"Ok. Thanks!"
I drove downtown in silence. Kaylee's car radio wasn't working. When I started to enter downtown I looked at the list. There was some really weird stuff on the list. Science stuff. She was probably doing some kind of cool attraction at the party. I went to Walmart, Target, Party City, and Safeway. I made it back to Kaylee's house by 6:00. She was really busy in her room and wouldn't let me in. What was going on?
