She told me to leave the bags outside. Except the ones from Party City She wants me to decorate and set up the food for the party. She was definitely up to something in her bedroom. From 6:00 to 8:00, I decorated for the party. Kaylee was still in her room. I didn't have the food for the party, so I walked upstairs to Kaylee's room and asked if I could come in. I opened up the door and my jaws dropped in aww.
Kaylee was definitely doing science stuff. What was she planning?
"What is this for?" I questioned.
"Well, knowing me I thought about the possibilities of something like this happening. So I've found a way to stop it."
"Oh my gosh! Wow! We can save everyone!" I exclaimed
"That's the issue." Kaylee said sadly. "I can only save twenty-five people."
"But, there has to be a way!"
"There isn't. We don't have enough time. I took DNA from you, all of our friends, and myself. Then I created this serum that will make us immune to disease. Any disease."
"I don't think I can do it. Without my parents, my family. I can't do it. I won't." I told her.
"I'm so sorry. I never thought any of this would happen for real so I already gave it to you. And everyone else. Just so that you wouldn't have to deal with sickness and colds." She confessed.
I ran. I bolted down the stairs. Through the hallway. Out the door. Kaylee followed me outside. I collapsed onto the ground. At least the other way I would be with my family. Now I would be alone. Kaylee came over to me. She told me she was sorry. She told me that she never would have done it if she knew this was what I wanted. If she knew this was going to happen. I believed her.
We walked inside and I asked if she could find a way to make more people immune to the disease.
"I can't. The only people that can survive the serum is 17-18 year olds."
Since I didn't have anything else to do, I continued to get ready for the party. Kaylee went back to her room. I set up all of the food and decided to go home. To see my family for the last time.
I opened up the front door to our house and breathed in the smell of food. I hurried to the kitchen to see my parents sitting at the counter eating. With my boyfriend.
"Hi, Kyle. What are you doing here?"
"Well, I came to say goodbye for the last time." He told me.
"Can you come up to my room?" I asked. "We need to talk.
I walked up the stairs and he followed me. We walked into my room and I told him that we were going to survive this. I told him everything. He looked bewildered. Kaylee has always been a science genius. It started when she was 13 in science class. She excelled and the teacher gave her extra work. This continued on through high-school.
After we were all done with breakfast, Kyle left. I stayed with my family all day. Then I told them. They were stunned. They cried. I ran upstairs into my room. I cried. Then I got dressed for the party. Twenty-Five people were attending.
I said goodbye to my parents. We hugged and we cried. As I walked out the front door I realized I would never see them again. I looked back at them one last time.
