"I Hate You, I Love You," by gnash

"You want to take some girl?" She questioned.

"Yes. Was that hard to understand?" He asked.

"How would a simple girl be any use to me?" She asked.

"Because she's not a simple girl. She's a warlock. She's useful to us." He said.

"A warlock? Someone with actual magic. Now I think this stuff is going to you brain." She said with laugher.

"She's powerful, and uncontrolled. We can use that against her. We could use her to get what we both want." He said.

"You want to take the girl, fine. But you better find a way to do it yourself because I'm going to be a little bit occupied. And you better hope she'll cooperate." She said.

"Don't worry. I have everything planned out."

Walking down the halls, Ella dragged her feet. She was extremely sore from yesterday with helping Satomi's pack. But she was glad about one thing, the dead-pool was finally over. She didn't need to worry anymore about assassins trying to kill her. She was almost worry free.

Almost.

In about two days, Scott said he would begin to try and help her with control. Though, she's sure he has no idea how he's going to do it. They've checked the bestiary, but there wasn't much about warlocks. Ella thought it was ridiculous that almost everywhere they checked, there was nothing about them.

But she told herself that she would worry about that in two days. They would have started today but Scott and Kira had a date, and tonight was the lacrosse game. Though, she didn't mind. She felt relieved that he had given her an extra day to prepare herself. Though, she didn't know exactly what to prepare.

But nevertheless, today she just wanted to focus on class. She just wanted to feel normal, even if it's just for a couple of hours.

And as she thought of normal, she saw her best friend, Mason. She walked up to him as he exited the gym.

"Hey, how was the workout today?" She asked.

"It was fine. Do you happen to know what's going on with Liam? He just seems to be pushing me away." He said.

"No, I'm sorry. I wish I could help." She said.

"Well can you? I noticed you two have been hanging out a lot." He said.

"Um, no we haven't." She said.

"Uh, yeah. You kind of have." He said.

"Oh, we have? I didn't even notice." She said, forcing a laugh.

Before he could say anything, they heard groaning from the gym. They gave each other a quick glance before heading inside. Entering, they saw Scott lifting a weight of off Liam.

Liam sat up and fell to the ground, gasping for air. His hand was over his heart while his breathing was trying to return.

Scott went over to Liam. Squatting down, he patted Liam on the back.

"You don't have to be with us, but don't push your friends away." Scott said. Then he got up then left.

Mason rushed to Liam's side, as Ella stood there watching him. His eyes hadn't noticed her yet, but when they did he couldn't look away.

In front of him was the girl who owned the voice that helped him yesterday night. The one who told him it was going to be okay. Ever since then, she wouldn't leave his mind.

For a moment, all they did was stare. Their eyes not leaving each other. His face held a soft expression, while Ella's held a confused one.

It wasn't until Mason began asking if Liam was alright, that she tore her gaze away.

Ella enjoyed walking home again. She hadn't walked home by herself since her name was found the on the dead-pool. But now she didn't waste one second on being outside again. All she wanted to do was run and scream, 'finally! No more people trying to kill me! I'm free!'

She took her time, and enjoyed each breath of air that entered her lungs. She enjoyed the wind that blew, the sun, the leaves that floated around, everything. She always had a connection with nature. She always absolutely loved it. Must be because she's a warlock. At least that's what her readings say.

She specifically remembers the one that said, 'that connection with nature is a warlocks prized possession.' She didn't really understand what it meant by that, but it gave her some answers as to why she possessed some power over wind.

Still, even if she wasn't a warlock she would still absolutely love nature. And that is why she thought it was dreadful when she arrived home.

Entering through the front door, her scenery changed and she was no longer with nature. She dropped her bags to the floor, and went straight to the kitchen. Aside from her own bedroom, the kitchen was Ella's favorite place to be in her house.

"Rachel? Are you home?" Ella yelled. She waited for a response, and when she didn't get one Ella shrugged.

"Must not be home yet." She mumbled.

As she opened the refrigerator, Ella heard the sound of glass shattering from the upstairs. Her head perked to the hall where the stairs were. She had her hands in a fist as she made her way towards them.

It could just have been Rachel, but Ella wasn't taking any chances. Her phone was out in one of her hands, waiting for a number to be dialed.

Her feet made their way quietly up the stairs. The good thing must be that they don't creak. At the top of the stairs, she hid behind a wall.

"I can hear your heart beating you know. It's beating rather fast." They said.

"Not saying anything are we? Do you really think that by staying quiet, I won't know you're here? That's funny. Ella you really are something."

"What do you want?" She asked.

"Just come out. I just want to have a little chat with you." They said.

Unlocking her phone, Ella clicked Scott's contact. Just as she was about to press call, she heard glass shattering again. Her breathing hitched as she heard heavy footsteps. The voice no longer spoke, just walked.

When they stopped, Ella returned to her phone. She clicked call, and it rang. It rang, and rang, and rang, until it went to voicemail. She quietly groaned at phone as she tried again. No one answered. She hopelessly tried again, and again. And she didn't stop until the person was beside her.

"I don't think that's going to do much." He said. His face held a mischievous grin, while his eyes glowed.

"You." She said.

"Me."
