11th March:
When I woke up, it was already one o’clock in the afternoon. Nat had already left for her Saturday school. I brushed my teeth and walked downstairs. I was going to watch some TV but then I heard my phone ring. I ran upstairs and picked it up. It was Darius.
“Have you had breakfast yet?” He asked.
“Not yet. Why?” I asked.
“Let’s go Starbucks for breakfast.” He told me.
“I can’t; I’m completely broke.” I replied, my voice heavy with regret.
“Don’t worry; it’s my treat.” He insisted.
“No I couldn’t let you pay. That’s not fair and Starbucks is really expensive.” I refused.
“I have to pay you back for dinner yesterday.” He reminded me lightly and I couldn’t argue anymore.
“Alright; I’ll be down in 15 minutes.” I told him before I hung up.
Why did I say 15 minutes? More like an hour! I had a quick shower and then changed into a huge jumper with a vest top underneath, jeggings and ugg boots. I took my scarf as well. As soon as I had got my keys, oyster and Vaseline, I left the house. AN: An oyster card is a bus pass for you guys who don't know. Darius was waiting on the steps that lead up to his house.
“Sorry; was I taking long?” I apologised.
“Not at all. Let’s go.” He told me before pulling me along to the bus stop.
We took a bus down to Starbucks in Clapham Common. Darius bought us both caramel frappuccinos and muffins. We had our breakfast in Starbucks and then we started to walk along the common.
“Thanks for breakfast Darius.” I thanked him. He smiled at me and we linked arms.
“Have you got a boy best friend?” He asked after a while of silence. I shook my head.
“You do now.” He told me and I grinned at him.
“Darius!” Someone called out. We saw a thin black girl wearing skinny jeans and a shirt run over to us.
“Hey Tasha, what are you doing in Clapham?” Darius wondered.
“I’m visiting my cousins. Who’s your friend?” She asked fixing me with an intense stare.
“Oh my bad; this is Ashley. She’s my next door neighbour.” He introduced me and I smiled at her. I thought she would glare at me or tell me to stay away from her man but she smiled brightly at me. I was shocked.
“I love your jumper. Did you get it from Forever 21?”She asked me. I nodded.
“You don’t talk much do you? Well that’s going to change. I’m having a party next weekend and you’re coming.” She told me and before I knew it, she had taken down my number and put hers in my phone.
“I’ll call you later to tell you all the details!” She called to us as she ran off.
When I got back home, it was 3 o’clock. My mum walked into the kitchen as I was getting a drink.
“Can you do the washing up and the bathroom?” She asked though technically it wasn’t a question.
She made her tea and walked back into her bedroom. I changed into my tracksuit and then started my chores. The joy of my life...
13th March:
I finally decided to do something that would improve my weight. I went to the local gym after school and signed myself up. I did a two hour workout before going home. As soon as I got in, I quickly finished my homework and then I went downstairs to have dinner. My mum came downstairs as well.
“It’s pizza today; I haven’t had time to go shopping.” She told me. There was a knock at the door and my mum went to answer it as I took the pizza out of the freezer. Darius was standing with his mum at the door.
“Hello Hillary, how are you today?” My mum asked as she invited them in. The parents started gossiping and I knew we would be here for a while.
“Mum, should I order in?” I asked her looking at Hillary and Darius.
“Of course, you guys like margherita right?” My mum replied before carrying on with her story. I called Dominoes and ordered a medium pizza.
“Mum, I’ll go pick it up so we can get the buy one get one free deal.” I told her.
She hardly heard and just passed me £10.
“Are you going Tasha’s party?” He asked me.
“I dunno; we’ll see.” I replied.
“You have to come otherwise I won’t go. I’ll have nobody to talk to.” He complained.
“I swear you guys go to the same school?” I asked in an amused way.
“Well yeah but nobody from school is as interesting as you.” He replied. I grinned at him.
“I know; I’m just too amazing.” I joked. We paid for the pizzas and took them back to the house. The whole journey was spent with Darius trying to convince me to come.
“Alright D, I’ll go if you shut up.” I told him giving up.
His eyes lit up and he smiled. We walked into the house and then we ate the pizza happily with our mums.
