The  galaxy that we currently live in  is our home galaxy, and is 120,000–180,000 light-years in diameter. The Milky Way galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy with 4 major arms in the disk, a spur, and an outer arm. The closest galaxy is the Andromeda galaxy which is visible from Earth. The Milky Way has formed from merging with other galaxies over time, the center of the galaxy is a supermassive black hole named Sagittarius A which would have the same amount of mass as 4.3 million stars. The Milky Way galaxy will collide with the Andromeda galaxy in approximately 4.5 billion years creating an elliptical galaxy. The Milky Way galaxy has grown by colliding with other galaxies overtime.
