What do the colours in the galaxies mean?

Two factors may change the colour of the galaxy, one being how fast the galaxy is moving and the other being the amount of dust in a galaxy making the galaxy appear more red.

Blue: the blue is an area with young stars, these stars have a high mass with a short lifespan. The blue comes from the stars using fuel at a high rate to keep the temperature high emitting blue radiation.

Red: the red stars are older stars either stars with high mass that have cooled or the low mass stars that has always been cool, the cool radiation stars give off is red.

Red/pink patches: this is a cloud of ionized hydrogen, this area is called the H-two region. Hll regions are ionized by ultraviolet radiation from the hot stars.
