Chapter Twenty Nine (unedited)

It wasn't just the sound of the blushing bride nor the laughter of the groom who laughed at ever motion his currently new wife did. The music was at its peak. The sound of clattering of dishes or the clacking of a woman's heels

It was beyond memorable for a woman's wedding. It didn't take longer for the ceremony to begin nor did it last that long before my dad and Pearl were announced husband and wife

Although it did take time for me to accept the fact that my father was now happy and it was because he has finally found someone he could love and cherish for the rest as their vows could carry them. I wasn't sad, in fact I am happy but the thought still didn't linger in my mind on where my real mother would have seen him like this. Free and in love once again

Would she be happy? Were they like this when they were newly wedded?

But it didn't seem to matter anymore. Not when my mother was long gone and my father has eventually moved on

Things were moving fast that I didn't even realize everyone was busy growing and living.

Smiling to myself, my focus went back towards the couple who were now dancing in the middle of the dance floor, Pearls wedding dress taking all over the space while she was twirled and kissed. Everyone seemed to be in their joyous moments while I sat on the bar stool with my ice tea in a wine glass, refreshing it up after dancing for hours with some of my cousins and a bit with Damien. Now my feet were dangling on the floor with my two inch heels beside me. my belly round and fortunately covered by my loose dress

Its been four months now, almost five and I wasn't getting any smaller but I thank god that I wasn't normally big as the others but rather my belly was still bearable to hide in a long and loose gown. I had my design as a bridesmaid swapped with the other, seeing how her gown was more appropriate to hide the bump. It just so happens Pearls friend was okay with it and Pearl really didn't care so long as everything was smooth sailing

Before taking a sip, I felt someone sit beside me and knowing who could possibly wear the familiar cologne made me smile

"Bored are we Chris?" I lazily grinned before turning towards Chris who was now smiling at me

"I was until I met a familiar face sitting alone with a glass in hand" he them Proceed to snatch the glass before taking a sip. happy that it was Ice tea, he then placed it back in my hand but not before slipping his hands on my waist

"Chris" I warned but this only made him clutch me tighter before pulling me close to his body

"Not to worry Checkers, Damien already left with a woman in god knows where"

"People might get the wrong idea" I hissed only for him to peck me in the lips. It was quick and barely there but as I stood agape at Chris's laughing one, I smacked him in the chest

"People will see you- you-"

"Would you mind giving me the honors in dancing the next song?" Chris interrupted me just as he left my side and was now in front with his hands extended

I hesitated , I cleared my throat while shaking my head but Chris interrupted me once again before I could speak

"Don't worry about it Checkers its just a dance nothing more" he smiled once more. A big one that showed his pearly white teeth as he gazed at me with happiness

Looking around, I saw that my father was too busy fawning over his new wife and Andy was not there to be seen. I sighed before giving him my hands as he brought me towards the dance floor.
