You and Me

3 1 2

You were perfect
Pure and whole
Untouched
By the grime of this
Rapacious world
You fascinated me
You drew me in
You hypnotized me
And unknowingly
Made me your sin
At first
I tried to understand you
In my own sullied terms
But you defied
My twisted logic
You were a different species
A higher race
Deep down
I despised you
So I broke you
Clawed you to pieces
And wore you
I became your evil side
The part you were missing
You were Jekyll
I was Hyde
I knew then
This is my place
We were meant to be
One
When you died
By my unsuspecting hand
We died
Together
Though my heart still beat
And my lungs drew breaths
Your funeral was mine
And ever since
I'm a half
A ghost of what
I'm meant to be
You and me

Inspired by a book we had to read for school TWICE. OTL
Don't ask why I wrote a poem about it. I just felt like it. Don't judge.
Also, I needed some distraction in middle of class.
