Chapter Fifty-Three

Niall’s POV

I wake up to Maya’s alarm going off. I groan and nuzzle my face into her back, feeling it rumble with her laugh.

“You have to wake up.” Maya’s voice is hushed and I shake my head.

“Don’t want to.”

“You have to get up so you can go home and get ready.” Maya shifts so she is facing me.

“Or I could get ready here.”

“If your cap and gown were here than sure you could. But they are not. And I’m sure your parents want to see you and take pictures.” She grins and I twirl a piece of her hair around my finger.

“Sounds like you’re trying to get rid of me.”

“You know I’d keep you here forever if I could.” Maya smiles and presses her lips to mine. “I love you, but you have to go.”

“Alright.” I grumble and sit up from the bed, tossing my shirt on. “I will see you at the school?”

“Yup.” Maya grins and I lean down to give her a kiss.

“Ok. See ya.” I walk out her door and down the stairs.

“I will see you at graduation Niall.” Maya’s mom speaks as I walk to the door.

“Ok.” I smile and leave Maya’s house making my way to mine.

“Good?” I ask straightening out my tie, and my dad nods.

“Good.” He smiles and pats my back. “I’m so proud of you.”

“Thanks dad.” I smile and give him a hug. “Oh, I have to go.” I speak quickly grabbing my cap and gown.

“Don’t forget this!” My mom smiles and I nod.

“Yeah! Thanks! I will see you all there.” I wave to my parents and my older my brother and get in my car.

I get to the school and park my car. I find Maya. She’s talking to Liam. I walk over to the two and give them hugs. Liam tenses slightly but hugs me back. We break from the hug and he pats my back.

“Can you believe we’re graduating.” Maya grins and I shake my head.

“It’s crazy, right.” Liam laughs.

“Where’s your girlfriend?”

“Well she’s a junior, but she’s in the stands with my family.” He smiles and I nod.

“That’s great.”

“Oh we have to take our seats.” Maya smiles and kisses my lips before we all part.

We all throw our caps in the air and cheer. I laugh and get hugged by a few random classmates, but I don’t care. I’m a graduate! I search through the crowd and find Maya. She gives me a wide smile, and I pick her up, pressing my lips to hers. Maya laughs in the kiss and holds my face in her hands.

“We’re graduates.” She grins and I nod, placing her back on her feet.

“That we are. And we can be something else.” I smile.

“And what is that?” She chuckles and I take in a deep breath before dropping to one knee, pulling out a black box of my pocket.

“Engaged.” I pull the top of the box back revealing a ring. “Maya, I love you. I’m pretty sure I’ve been in love with you since the day we got that assignment. You are the most amazing thing that has happened to me. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” I smile, and slide the ring on her finger. “I know it’s not much but…”

“It’s beautiful.” Maya wipes her tears away, and I stand. “It’s beautiful and you’re beautiful and I love you. And I’d love to marry you.” She smiles and I pick her back up and kiss her hard.

I can hear a few faint ‘oh my gosh’s' from behind me, but I don’t pay any attention to it. I hug and kiss Maya and everything else fades out, because she said yes.

“So I think it should be before we go back to school.” Maya speaks, with her head on my chest, staring at her ring.

“I think that would be good.”

“Yeah. So then like everyone will be here. And I want to get married here you know. Have all our friends and family there.”

“Mhm.” I hum along, rubbing her arm.

“And than we have to like find places in Texas and stuff.”

“I’ve been looking.” I speak and she shifts. “Just you know… Wanted to see our options.” I shrug and Maya laughs.

“Mr. Responsible.”

“I try.” I laugh. “You do know we have three months to plan this wedding.”

“I have it all planed. All I need is for you to look handsome and meet me at the altar.” She grins and I chuckle.

“Of course.”

(A/N So that's the ring on the side. Obviously it's not all huge and stuff because they are just graduating but yeah, I thought it was a nice size! And how cute!
