Chapter Six: Faster, Pussycats! Kill! Kill!

"And what will you be auditioning with?" Kevin asks as I write down Archie's information.
"Uh, an original song that I wrote called I'll Try" Archie says nervously fiddling with the mic.
"Try harder! Maybe try not sucking so much" Reggie yells from the back and I ignore him and give Arch a calm smile reassuring him.
"Take your time, Archie" Kevin says.
"Though we do have people waiting" I whisper to Kevin
Archie just stars into the crowd and doesn't do anything
"Archie? Clock's ticking" I say grabbing Kev's mic.
"Excuse me" Arch says unplugging his guitar, "Sorry, I gotta go". He runs off stage.
"Weird" I whisper to Kev and he shrugs
"Next" my brother yells.

"The Sisters of Quiet Mercy" Jughead reads
"What is that? Like a church? Or a charity?" I say looking at them both
"No, It's a "Home for troubled youths" jughead says, "Where disenfranchised teens will learn such virtues as discipline and respect, enjoying lives of quiet reflection and servitude"
" Poor Polly" Betty says,"It's been months.There's gotta be a reason my mom and dad don't want me to see Polly.But I don't care anymore"
"What are you guys talking about?" Archie asks, "Anything I can help with?"
"What we're attempting is a stealth operation, Archie" Jughead says, "If we go in there with the entire Scooby Gang, forget it, we're compromised" Does that mean no Izzy too?
"Well, don't you have to practice for the Variety Show anyways?" Betty asks
"Uh, no, I don't" Archie says. Awkward!
"Except that yes, you do" Ron says sitting next to Archie, "Thanks to a certain Veronica-ex-machine"
"Excuse me" I say looking at Kevin
"What do you mean?" Archie says
"Oh, nothing just that I had a few words with our director/host, and reminded him that he's heard you sing on numerous occasions" Veronica says
"Even though it compromises my artistic integrity" Kev mutters
"Cutting to the chase, you have a slot if you want it" Veronica tells Arch
"Veronica, thank you, but you saw what happened" Archie says
"We all did" I say.
"Playing my songs in front of you guys is one thing, but getting back up on that stage by myself I'm not sure if I'm ready for that" Archie says
"If it's a partner you're looking for, Veronica Lodge is more than willing and able" Ron says
"Veronica, I didn't know you could sing" I say looking at her.
"Like a nightingale" Veronica answers, "What do you say, Archiekins? Be the Jay to my Bey?" Archie smiles at Ronnie.

"I've got you And you've got me I've got you And you've got me" I was listening to Archie and Val singing.
"Not to be that girl, Archie, but I didn't get the memo we were adding another voice to the mix" Ronnie says. Wait why didn't I catch on!
"Ronnie, hey" Archie says standing up, "Great news! Valerie quit the Pussycats"
"So, that makes me what, then? Backup?" Ron asks super pissed. Bad move Archibald bad move.
"No. I mean, you were just doing it as a favor to me, right?" Archie argues.
"You are unbelievable, Archie" Veronica starts, "You literally have zero loyalty, you ginger Judas!"
"Hey, Ronnie" Arch says, "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong, Archie, besides the fact that you have no integrity whatsoever, is that your father kissed my mother"
"Um - Maybe we should leave" I say looking at Val
"No, hold on" Archie says to Val. "When my dad told me how he felt, it seemed like they were both really into each other" Archie argues
"They're married to other people" Veronica says
"Hey, my mom and dad are separated and your dad is" Archie says
"My dad is what?" Ron asks
"He's..." archie starts
"...He's incarcerated, right? That is so not the point, Archie!" Veronica says
"Of course not. I'm sorry" Archie says, "Do you wanna talk about it? We can go somewhere and talk. Or do you want your part back?"
"Oh, don't do me any favors, Archie" Veronica says walking out
"that was so not cool Archibald, but this is none of my business" I say getting up and walking out.

"Hello, Riverdale High, and welcome to the 75th annual Variety Show!" I hear Kev say into a mic as I watch him from beside Reggie.
"Reg, you better not say anything rude to Archie" I say looking at him.
"I wont I promise" Reggie says putting his arm around me and we sit and enjoy the show

I elbowed Reggie when he yelled out at Archie and gave him a look.
"What" he says
"You said you wouldn't" I say turning away from him and turn watch Archie.

"Excuse me" I hear veronica say as she walk away from Mr. Andrews and her mom.
"Hey Ronnie" I say grabbing her arm and pulling her into a hug, "you alright"
"I should be, thank you" she says
"No problem, just checking on a friend in need" I say smiling at the beauty. She leaves and I go back to Reggie and his friends.
