^Man in charge^

Arlo laid there for hours, nervous for what was going to happen. At last, the monotony was broken with the familiar creak of the door. Unfortunately, the sight that greeted him did nothing to calm his fears.

Evelynne was dragged into the room, still between the two guards but could no longer stand on her own. Her face was a bloody mess, so much that Arlo could hardly recognize her. She was awake, but in such a pain filled state that all she could do was cooperate with them. Salty tears dripped down her face, creating red currents through the blood. It was a mess. Arlo was so stunned that all he could do was look at her, mouth gaping.

A man came in after Evelynne, wearing a black suit. He straightened it and approached Arlo. "I'm sure you are wondering why we hurt someone that works for us. Hmm?" He asked rhetorically, "Well, I'll be kind and explain. This woman failed her duty when you attempted an escape and therefore she is a traitor. So in theory, you did this to her." The man smirked.

Arlo looked at the man, confused. "How did she fail to do her duty?"

The man sighed, clearly annoyed, "Because you were able to even attempt at an escape, it shows me she did not do her job properly. Understand?"

"Yah. I understand." Arlo said. He looked again at Evelynne and winced. She was still in a lot of pain and pretty bloody.

"But I do have one more thing to ask of you." The man continued, "As stated in the rules of our organization, the punishment for being a traitor is death. Therefore, Miss Evelynne must die, but none of my men will do it. I have decided to be generous and let you do it."

Arlo looked startled. "Why don't you make your men do it?"

"Are you deaf? I thought you would like to do that. She cut you open and was keeping you a prisoner. Don't you want to do it?" The man looked surprised.

"When she cut me open, she was probably following orders from you or someone else. If it was this Domin fellow, I would gladly kill him. But she didn't do anything wrong. What I don't understand is why keep punishing her if I didn't escape? Yes I tried, but I didn't succeed," Arlo said. "Why?"

"I already told you. Besides, I don't need to explain a single thing to you. Absolutely nothing. Now you gonna do it or not? Because I'll just do it then."

"Where would you do it?" Arlo asked.

"Is that a no? I'll just do it now if you choose not to do it yourself." The man casually pulled out a pistol from his belt.

Arlo forced a cold look come into his eyes. "No. I'll do it."

The man smiled, "Good. But remember, if you try to pull any funny business, I will shoot you." He cocked the pistol and held it up towards Arlo as one of the men that were holding Evelynne pulled the straps off of Arlo and handed him another pistol. The men went back to Evelynne and held her tightly.

Evelynne looked up at Arlo, a fearful look in her eyes, "Please..." She whimpered. Arlo slowly sat up and pulled the magazine out to see how many bullets were in it, then shoved it back up into the stock.

The man steadied his hand that held the gun, "Go ahead." Arlo aimed it at her, and fired. Nothing happened, as he missed her. Arlo looked confused. 'How could I have missed,' the gesture said. Arlo knew he had missed because he had pulled the bullet out before shoving the clip back into the gun, but he didn't let on. Arlo's face turned a light shade of red.

The man rolled his eyes, "Did you seriously break the gun?" He asked, "What happened?"

"I don't know," Arlo said, still looking confused.
