The One Where Shanks Says Goodbye

"You're leaving?" You looked up at Mihawk, the pain in your voice mirroring the pain in your eyes. He couldn't even look at you.

"Yes."

"But... Why?"

"I just... I can't do it. I can't stay down in one place or I'll go crazy."

You whimpered, looking down at your feet. "Is it because of me?" He looked at you then, shock in his golden eyes. "I-If I did something wrong, I'm sorry..."

"No, (Y/N), no." He wrapped his arms around you, holding you to his chest. "You're the only thing that made me stay at all. But if I stay here any longer, I'll end up like Red-Hair."

You gave a quiet laugh, pressing your face to the fabric of his coat to hide your tears. "Okay."

"I'll come back, (Y/N). I swear to you."

"Mihawk..."

Just then, Shanks blundered up, alcohol making his cheeks blush bright red. "Hey, buddy!" He patted Mihawk's arm, smiling. "Wus'up?"

"I'm leaving, Red-Hair. It's my time to go."

Shanks looked confused for a moment. "Well... Do you have to?"

"Yes, Red-Hair, I do." Mihawk let you go, stepping back onto the soft sand of the beach. "Goodbye."

Shanks let out a confused whimper, looking between you and Mihawk. "Bye?"

Mihawk turned and started to walk down to his small boat, pausing for a moment. He half turned and reached his hand out towards you. "Come with me, (Y/N). Please."

"I... I..." You looked from your lover to your captain, torn between the two.

Shanks looked startled, reaching forward to hold onto your arm. "No, (Y/N)! You have to stay with me! You're family!"

You didn't know what to do, who to pick, which side of your heart to leave behind. "Shanks, Mihawk, I..."

I don't know what to do.
