I know not who you are, or how you found this note. I hope you are a member of my family, as I can only fear what would happen if these secrets were made known. But it means you hold in your hands a most dangerous book.
I doubt it the first time you have seen a Bible, yet this one is different. Find another. Compare. You shall see where the changes occurred. Numbers are transposed, names misspelled. Make no mistake, this Bible has been in this family for many generations. It is authentic, it is ancient, but most terrifying of all, it is accurate.
Perhaps you wonder why it has been kept from the world. If the history of this book has taught you nothing else, it should teach you that men will kill for what they believe in, and change is their greatest adversary.
And yet, that may well be for the better. For there are those in your ancestry that have performed the rituals as they have truly been handed down. Althea, my great-great-grandmother described what came forth as Satan itself. Yet we know now that there is no Satan. What came forth was God. Not the God of Abraham and Isaac. It was not the god of any man who has sought mercy and freedom. The only mercy is that it is trapped. The only freedom it can have rests in this Holy Book.
