Doom closed her eyes for a moment, fighting back the wave of emotion that crashed over her. She felt as if she'd been hit by a landslide and buried under a thousand stones.

From below came the snarky reply, Now you know how I feel.

She shut him out, finally looking back up at the Rainwing before her in awe. This is strength, she thought, the ability to experience that and live. Boto stared at her expectantly, the corners of his eyes moist.

Taking in a deep breath Doomsayer quietly whispered, "We . . . I have powers. You were right about that." To his credit, he didn't move.

"Which ones?" Voice terse, he couldn't hide the ripple of dark purple that raced across his scales. If she was any judge - which she wasn't - it seemed like that would mean uncertainty.

"They- I-" Her scales itched, and THREE MOONS WHY WAS THIS SO HARD? "All three."

He stepped back, and Doom was sharply reminded that this was not one of the sedated Rainforest dragons she was used to - he knew things. "So you're a Prophet?"

She nodded.

"A . . . mindreader." He spat the word like rotten meat.

Again, a nod.

"And," a long pause. So long she thought - hoped - that he wouldn't figure it out. "An animus."

The Rainwing stepped close now, so close that the tips of his wings brushed up against her scales. He was warm, despite the chill, from a lifetime in the warmest places in Pyrrhia, and for the first time she saw that his eyes were actually a very deep violet, with faint streaks of blue like rain sliding over glass.

They stood there for the longest time, Animus and Assassin, until finally he whispered, "Thank you, Doomsayer."

His scales faded to stone, and only the faint tap of claws on rock signaled his eventual retreat.
