i quickly shook my head to reassure her. "its not that i don't trust you, sofi. its everyone else i don't trust. you're so pretty."
"so you think that because i'm pretty," she made air quotes at the word pretty. now the tears were falling down her cheeks. but her eyebrows were furrowed. they were angry tears. "i'm going to leave you? you can't be serious, jin. i think you have a real problem."
"sorry sofi." i took a step towards her, but she took a step back. "i'm so afraid."
she then reached for the ring around her finger and pulled it off, placing it in my hand. "i love you jin. but i can't marry you until you figure things out because i'm not sure what you feel for me is love."

that's right sofi. his reasons for being afraid that she'll leave sound pretty shallow. he's afraid she will leave because she's so pretty. but that was the whole point and plot of this story.
i purposefully planned it this way.
