"Hwan, you can't just wait here until the end!" Soo-ryun said, her eyes welling up with tears.

"She doesn't remember me, Mama," Hwan answered meekly. "And maybe that's good."

"What?" Soo-ryun asked, confused.

"It'll be painful for her," Hwan said. "I don't want her to get hurt."

"But you've been in pain for years!" Soo-ryun argued strongly. "It's all because of her!"

Soo-ryun could no longer hold her tears anymore. They streamed down her cheeks fast. She brought her palms on her face to cover her face. She didn't want Hwan to see her like this. But she could no longer hold it in. Time is running out. And she couldn't bear waiting any longer. She couldn't face the reality that she could lose Hwan again.

"It's okay, Mama," Hwan tried to comfort his mother. He gently patted her shoulder.

Soo-ryun broke down in more tears and cries as she reached out for Hwan and hugged him tightly. She buried her wet face on the crook of his neck and cried her heart out.
