Hazel

I didn't go to sleep last night until I knew August got home safely. I literally sat on the phone with him the whole drive up until he got into his bed, and since I made him sleep at his house because his house is closer to Lamar's than mine, it took all but ten minutes. Of course he bickered about wanting to sleep here at my place with me, but he went home anyway.

After gettin up to do my morning routine and clean up little things around the house, I go over to August's house. He leaves his spare key at the top of the door frame and since I'm too short to reach it, I knock on the door instead. I do my usual beats on the door, but stop once I realize he hasn't come after a minute.

Pulling my phone up, I unlock it and go to the call button. It's only when I'm about to tap on his name in the recent call log that I hear the locks of the door unlocking.

About damn time.

"Good mornin Auggie." I hug him as he wraps his arms around my torso. "Happy birthday."

"Thank ya."

Walking in, I close the door and follow him into the kitchen, leaning against the counter. I don't come to August's as much as he comes to my place, which is weird because I honestly love his house. He has a gorgeous one story house with two bedrooms that he keeps up with. Me not coming as much may be because he doesn't want me involved in his lifestyle, but shit his lifestyle follows him everywhere he goes so there's not much protecting he can do from being with me all the time.

Putting the thought behind me, I watch as August goes into the freezer that's connected to his refrigerator and pulls out two boxes. Breakfast sandwiches in one hand and Eggo waffles in the other. Pointing to the breakfast sandwiches, he takes one of them out and hands it to me, where I then put it on a plate and heat it in the microwave as August leaves the kitchen.

When the timer goes off on the microwave, I open it by pulling the handle, and then pull my sandwich out. I then make my way over to the pantry and grab the syrup because it's a necessity I use with all of my breakfast dishes. Pouring a good bit on the side, I put the syrup back and head to August's room with my food.

"What's wrong?" I ask, seeing him with his head in his hands.

"Nothin. I'm just tired."

"You shouldn't be the one tired." I scoff, taking another bite.

"Why?" He asks lookin at me. "Ian get home til bout 3."

"I know I stayed on the phone with you until you got inside and laid down, but that took a lil minute cause you wanted to do everything under the sun before you finally laid down." I admit after chewing. "We stayed on the phone for a little over ten minutes when you only live around the corner from Lamar."

I glance over at him to see him shake his head with a chuckle before getting up and pulling his shorts up over his waist. He goes over to his closet and looks through all the clothes that are hanging before turning to look at me.

"You finish decoratin?" He asks.

"Almost. I just have to finish puttin all the table cloths on the tables and then blow up a couple balloons."

"You bout to go do that right now?"

"No, I wanted to go out to eat first."

"Oh we can fuck with it. Lemme get ready first."

I nod and finish eatin my breakfast while he takes the time to get ready. When he's done, we gather our things and head out to his favorite spot, Luke's. It's a cute little brunch spot that's pretty hot in Atlanta right now. Something like Another Broken Egg down in New Orleans, but not as good because Another Broken Egg has that down pat.
