Y/N'S POV

I was laughing until my stomach hurt. We were, in fact, enjoying that small moment that would become a cherished memory.

I was sitting at Monet's with my best friends, Alex and Hannah, enjoying some hot chocolate and mocking Alex throughout his journey around the whole menu. It was our tradition: everyday after school, we'd go and hang out at Monet's for a while; forget the world and laugh until we couldn't breathe.

"Y/N, what time is it?" Hannah asked, calming her laughter and controlling her breathing. I wiped the small tear caused by my laughing and checked my phone.

"3:57" I sat straight as Alex fixed his shirt. "WHAT?!" I gasped, stumbling up quickly picking up my books and throwing them inside my bag. No, no, no, no. Quickly placing my bag on my shoulders, I accidentaly bumped Alex's arm while trying to cross, making him spill his sugary drink on top of him.

"What the hell, Y/N?" He rolled his eyes as I bit my lips trying not to laugh. I couldn't afford it. I had no time.

"I'm sorry, Alex... Bye, guys. I'll explain everything later!" I almost yelled from the door, fastening my pace. I'd  promised Clay that I'd cover up for him and tutor the guy he had scheduled for today. It was supposed to start at 4 sharp.

I cursed myself all the way from Monet's to school, and I repeated endlessly how much of an idiot Clay was because he didn't want to give me the guy's number in case of emergency. 'I can't do it, it's confidential. It wouldn't be professional otherwise'. Idiot. I scoffed at the thought of it. I just hope the guy is still there when I arrive.

I ran through the empty hall, heading to the library. My heart was beating faster. My feet played some sort of games with me, making me almost trip here and there. My hair was probably an odd mess, my forehead had a thin layer of sweat and my shoulders were tired from carrying my bag throughout the mini marathon I just had.

Once in front of the library, I quickly opened the door,  making much more sound than I expected. Followed by a lot of 'shhs' and hushes, I shyly apologized; my cheeks probably red by now.

A soft laugh made it's way through my ears. It belonged to a cute guy in a baseball shirt with a pair of earrings, fitting the exact same description Clay had given me.

"J-Jeff Atkins?" I panted a little, tired from all the running while placing a bit of hair in the back of my ear.

Jeff's POV

I heard a loud thump at the entrance of the library, and I glanced up to see what had caused it. It was an oddly beautiful girl. Her wavy black hair a bit messy, her cheeks flushed and her forehead with a little bit of sweat. I admired her features for a while, and a soft smile appeared on my lips while analyzing her. She stared at her black Converse, apologizing under her breath as shy as a little kid. I couldn't help but laugh in awe.

Her vibrant eyes fixed up on mine, and I got a little bit nervous as she approached towards me. In order to break the contact, I took my pen and shook my head, starting to finish my work. I was short of breath and slowly lifted my head up when she stood in front of me and said my name.

"Uhm... y-yeah, that's me" I nodded, playing nervously with my pen.

"Nice meeting you... My name's Y/N Y/L/N. I'm Clay's friend, he told me about-" I opened my eyes a bit, he told me he'd have a friend cover up for him today, but he didn't tell me she was this stunning. I couldn't hear much of what she said afterwards, because I couldn't help but stare at her, and how swiftly she talked and moved. She did it all so softly. So natural. Her beauty was innate. "So... mind if I sit?" She asked, placing her bag softly on the table, right next to mine.

"No, no. Please, do." I added quickly, so I wouldn't seem like an idiot. She gave me a soft smile, and came a bit closer towards me. There was a bit of a silence, so I decided to break it. "So, Clay was helping me with this Social Studies report. I've been trying to fix it, and I've checked it many times, but I'm not really sure..." I took my papers and passed them to her, a bit self-conscious. She took them happily, and bit her lips a bit while reading them.

Jesus, Atkins. Concentrate. You can't afford any distractions right now, I thought.

"This is really good, Jeff. I really liked it." I sighed in relief as I heard her agree. I placed the pen on the table and rubbed my temple.

"I only need like a C to pass and keep playing."

"Baseball, is it? And with this over here you'll definitely get more than a C." Placing the paper in front of me again, her big eyes looked at me and she smiled at me.

"Yeah, baseball it is" I smiled proud of my sport. I really needed to pass and I wanted to keep playing more than anything. "you think so?"

"I love baseball. I used to watch my dad play every Sunday. I would play with my brothers and their friends as well."

"Beautiful, smart and baseball lover. Can it get any better?" I thought I'd said it to myself, but seeing her there all shy and flushed again made me realize I had been thinking out loud. I smiled in awe, and let out a small chuckle. She couldn't be any cuter. "Hey, how about you give me your number and we can go out and watch a game sometime?" A cheeky, flirtatious smile plastered on my face.

"How about if you get that C I'll think about giving you my number?" She asked confidently, in the same tone I just had, raising an eyebrow.

"Deal" I accepted, with the same intentions, locking my gaze with hers.

I guess it can, indeed, get any better.
