Chapter 17

"Let's talk." Ashton said sitting down in the grass. We were sitting in a clearing in the woods by the school. I sat down next to him and took a deep breath before letting everything out,

"I may be new to this mate thing, Ashton. But, I'm pretty sure that people who are in a relationship tell each other everything." I said slowly. Ashton looked at me confused,

"They do, and I have told you-"

"Imagine my surprise when I find out that the principal is my mates father. It just doesn't stop there. No. It turns out the leader of your clan, or coven or whatever...is your brother." I said turning to glare at Ashton. He sighed and scooted closer. He grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it. He closed his eyes,

"When I first introduced you to Grant, you found out we were mates. So, it kind of slipped my mind to tell you he was my brother. And, about my dad...well, I don't know. I'm not good with talking about stuff. About feelings, or family or anything. But, if you want to talk about that stuff I will, for you." He said looking into my eyes with wide green eyes.

"I do." I said crossing my arms, "I also want to talk about something else before we get into our families." I said turning to look at him. He intertwined our fingers and nodded for me to go on. I smiled as I felt the usual sparks of electricity I get whenever our skin touches.

"Ashton, you're a hypocrite." He froze and stared at me with wide eyes. I laughed, "Your face right now is hilarious. But, you are a hypocrite." I said shrugging a little. Ashton moved back a little,

"How come?" He questioned. I sighed,

"You think it's the end of the world if I talk to a guy, or befriend a guy and you go all ape shit on me. But, when you talk to other girls you think that, that's perfectly fine." I said glaring at him. Ashton frowned,

"I can't help it, I don't like seeing you with other guys. It just makes me angry. And, that's different. Red is just an ex, and that was a long time ago." I continued to glare at him. He just didn't get it.

"Ashton. I want you to understand that I have guy friends okay. And, that's completely different from this red person because she's an ex. I've never dated Collin before-"

"But, you were going too if you didn't find out we were mates." I stared at him in shock. I so wasn't!

"I was not. Look, Ashton I don't want to fight." I said sighing. He took a deep breath and grabbed my hand. He gave me a small smile,

"Come here." He murmured softly, pulling me into his chest. So, here we were me sitting in his lap, with his arms wrapped around me. The sun was shining and the grass has never looked so green. I've never felt so warm being so close to Ashton. I sighed in bliss and leaned my head against his chest. He kissed my forehead,

"I'll never be okay with you talking to another guy, but I'll allow it. I understand that you're just friends but I have...trust issues." He said slowly. I turned around in his arms so I was straddling him.

"Why? What happened to you Ashton?" I asked, looking into his green eyes that were practically piercing through my soul. He closed his eyes, and his arms tightened around my waist. It was quiet for a long time before he spoke,

"I caught my dad cheating on my mom." I gasped, but he kept going, "It was around the time my dad was gonna let Grant take over. I found him and some lady half-naked and in bed...about to get down and dirty." I rolled my eyes at Ashton but he continued,

"I made a scene and my mom came in and so did Grant. Turns out my parents aren't really mates, they were forced to marry from their parents just because they were both powerful and they were destined to make powerful babies." I stared at him with wide eyes,
