"You're leaving me?" I said, tears forming.

"It's boarding school Quinn! I can't simply refuse this once in a lifetime offer, you know that better than anyone," He said.

That's my best friend, Luke Hemmings. He's technically the school nerd? But to me, he was my everything, I love him, but I can't get myself to tell him. He's leaving me there's no way I can do that now.

"Besides, the fact that you hid our friendship, or whatever it is, means you probably don't care much about me." He says.

"Wait, you know why I did it! Don't put this on me!"

I am, like, one of the popular girls at school, and having Luke as a best friend?, would ruin my reputation. I know it sounds selfish, but I couldn't risk anything.

"I applied, and got in, you know me better than anyone, and you know that I will not refuse something like this."

He's completely right. I'm selfish and I don't want him to go. But he'll be back in 2 years right? It can't be so bad. I'll just have to hold on as long as possible.

"Be back in 2 years, and I mean it, Hemmings."

"I promise, I will."
