Alex!

Wait. DID YOU JUST CALL ME MY ACTUAL NAME???

Oh, I did! I didn't notice!

I FEEL SO ACCOMPLISHED.

Ha.

Okay, what do you want from ALEX?

Okay... this is going to be random.

With you? I don't doubt it.

I want to hear your voice.

? Huh?

It bugs me! When you text me, I can picture you in my head, BUT I CAN'T PICTURE YOUR VOICE!

Okay?

So.....

INCOMING CALL

From her end of the call, Indy smiled and picked up the phone.

"Hey, Alexphant!"

From his side of the phone, Alex felt unexplainably nervous. Until he heard her say his nickname. It seemed to be so familiar to her.

"Hi, Indy."

Indy's heart sped up a bit at his voice. She froze.

"Indy? Can you hear me?"

"What? Oh, yeah. Sorry. You have a nice voice, Alex."

Alex smiled into the phone. He liked Indigo's voice, too. It was soft, and rich, as if velvet itself was speaking.

"Y-you do too."

"Thanks..."

"OH LORD! SAY IT ISN'T SO! INDIGO SOUNDS SHY!!!!"

Indigo let out a laugh/snort.

"Sorry... it's just so unusual, hearing your voice. Make's you seem more... I dunno... human."

Alex was about to reply when Wis barged into his room. She grabbed the phone. "I HEAR TALKING. DOES MY BROTHER ACTUALLY HAVE A FRIEND WHO CALLS?"

Indigo heard this through the call and giggled.

"Is this Wis?"

"Maybeeeee..."

"Hi there. I'm Indigo."

Wis squealed and turned to face Alex, who was wrestling for the phone.

"Wait... is my baby brother talking to a GIRL?"

Alex and Indy both blushed from their side of the wire. Indy responded first.

"Ha! Am I a first?"

"Girl, you have no idea. I was starting to think this guy's gay! Nothing wrong with that, but HE FINALLY GOT A GIRL!"

Alex groaned and whispered to Wis. "Sis, please! Gimme the phone!"

"Oh, right, lemme give this back to Alex."

"Mkay."

"Hey, it's Alex again."

"May I just say, your sister and I would be best friends."

"Yeah, Wis is as nosy and annoying as you! Just don't call her Wisteria."

Wis heard this from eavesdropping outside the room and had to bite her cheek to stay quiet.

"Wisteria. That's nearly as odd as Indigo!"

He snickered.

"I know, right!"

Indy smiled, not saying anything. Neither did Alex, so peaceful silence covered the call.

"It's really nice to hear you, Alex."

"Same to you, Indy. I can think of something better, though. Something really fun."

"My dirty mind warped that."

Alex majorly blushed and stuttered.

"O-oh, no-ooo. I just thought we c-could, like..."

He trailed off.

"Alex, do I make you uncomfortable?"

Indy laughed, teasing, while Alex's face turned as red as his hair.

"Oh, n-no, of course n-not... uh, I meant, we could, uh... meet up?"

Indy's easy demeneor hardened.

"No."

"Why not?"

"Please, Alex. No."

"I don't understand..."

"We cannot meet up. I'm sorry."

"You don't sound sorry."

Indy blinked back a sudden wave of tears.

"I really, truly am sorry. Maybe one day, I can tell you why, but not today."

"Alex?"

"Alex, I'm really sorry! It's not my-"

The line cut off.
