Wis slid back to the room.
"Alex, please don't tell me you just cut her off!"
Alex just shrugged and looked down. Wis slid over his bed and sat next to him.
"Whats wrong?"
"Wis! It's not important."
"But you look so sad..."
Alex just sighed as Wis wrapped her hand around him.
"You two sounded so happy, and then...boom."
"Wis... she doesn't want to see me."
"I'm sure that isn't true. She called, didn't she?"
"Yeah, but every time I ask her to... hang out, she shuts down. Last time she said it was because she scares people. How could someone so nice scare people? I think she just doesn't want to see me."
Alex sighed and blinked, rubbing his eyes. Wis grabbed his phone and scrolled through his messages with Indigo.
"Do you want to see her?"
"Of course!"
"Why?"
"Because I text her and she seems nice and funny and kind and sounds so pretty and fun on the phone and I want to actually see her face to face!"
Alex curled up into a ball.
"Wis, am I doing something wrong?"
"I dunno. But I do think you should tell her what you just told me. It sounds like you really like her. You two would make a great couple, I know it."
Alex blushed.
"O-oh, no, not like that."
"Then like what?"
Alex thought, trying to find the rught word.
"I don't know."
Wis hugged her little brother.
"Alex! You are a great guy. Kind, smart, polite... whatever you want with Indigo, whether just friendship or something more, I fully believe you can get it!"
Alex's phone dinged, a different sound than his other notifications.
"Thats her right now, Alex. Do you want to text her?"
He shook his head.
"Not now. Maybe later. Maybe."
Wis nodded and let go of Alex, leaving him in his own room.
( Fun Fact: I based Wis on many good friends of mine. She's always there for Alex, just like mine are for me.)
