I hate the school Maisie goes to. For a while, I have known she gets bullied, but I'm kinda hurt she didn't tell me about it, it's like she doesn't trust me, or believe I can either get her help or help her myself.

I was currently driving my car back home, the silence between Maisie and I haunting me. "Mai?" I asked. "Mm?" "How long has this been going on for?" I asked in all seriousness. She shrugged. "I dunno." She never looked away from out of the window.  "Maisie!" I almost yelled. "Think!" "Ok! Um, about since I started school at Northridge. No big deal. It doesn't bother me. No one cares anyway." She said the last part quieter than a whisper, yet I still heard. I nearly ran over the pigeon in front of the car. "I care! Please don't think I don't." I pleaded. "Whatever. I can tell when you are lying, Beck." "I'm not-ugh. Whatever." I pulled the car up and into the driveway. She bolted out the car and slammed the door shut. I sighed. I wish she trusted me.

~~~magical time skip~~~
When I went into my rv, I threw my bag to the corner, and flopped onto my bed. I lay there for a few hours, and then I got a text from mum, saying dinner was ready. I got up and went into the house, and sat down at the table. The whole half hour we were eating, it was completely silent. I don't think Maisie was even eating. "Thanks mum. It's really nice, but I uh, I'm not really very hungry." Mum nodded at Maisie as she left to go upstairs. I couldn't believe both of them. Mum, because she should realise when her own daughter is struggling, and not eating, and Maisie, because she can die from not eating, and if that's what she wants, she needs to believe me that a lot of people care. They do! "Thanks." I said as I left the table.
I went upstairs to check on Maisie. I wasn't stalking her or anything, I just wanted to be sure she was ok at the moment. I worry. That's all. I was about to knock on the door, when I heard a guitar strum. I didn't know she could play guitar. Then, I heard one of the most beautiful voices sing.
(Pretend she wrote the song)
If you want words to put your mind at rest tonight
Come and shout about it
We can talk for a hundred miles and drive
Where you're less surrounded
Cause I can see that the candle you hold inside
Has a cloud around it
How can a heart like yours be that high and dry
When it burns the brightest?
I'm so sorry I can't stop myself from staring at you
When you're tired and blue, my dear
It's just any reason I get to be closer to you
I wanna shout about it
Oh, I wanna shout about it
Beneath the window and the water that's in your eyes
That's where I know you're hiding
There's a smile that could light up a thousand lives
And you need reminding
Tell me your fears, don't let 'em live a life alone
Let me share the burden
Cause here beside you, there's a man you better no, no, no
Who you can confide in
I'm so sorry I can't stop myself from staring at you
When you're tired and blue, my dear
It's just any reason I get to be closer to you
I wanna shout about it
No, I wanna shout about it
I'm not saying, all I do
Will make everything you touch turn gold
I'm just waiting to pull you through
I'll take a little off the load
Yeah, any reason I get to be close to you
Wanna shout about it
I'm so sorry I can't stop myself from staring at you
When you're tired and blue, my dear
It's just any reason I get to be closer to you
Oh, I wanna shout about it
No, I'm gonna shout about it
No, I wanna shout the loudest
That song may or may not have broken my heart. Little did she know, I had secretly recorded it and I think I know where she is going to school now...
