"She needs the rough draft of the interview by the end of this week. You can handle that can't you?"
As if my life wasn't complicated enough. Now Mariam was informing me what Miss Jones, our boss, had discussed with her.
I need to do the interview, meanwhile, my client was a prisoner at his own cousin's house.
Maybe if I released a story like that, I would blow up and I won't have to be working so hard anymore. But at the same time, it would lead to investigations that would eventually uncover all the untold truth.
I didn't need anyone knowing my business, worse, jeopardizing my father.
"Can we trade?" I half-jokingly asked her in a sigh. At this point, I wouldn't mind being paid less just to take off some tension from my life.
"Trust me, I wish we could. That man looked yummy from head to toe I could just lick him all up," she winked, giving me a mental image of the dirty little thing she actually meant.
I scrunched up my face but gave out a light chuckle in an attempt to hide my guilt. Mostly because I remembered how I licked him all up.
And now George could be suspecting something. I didn't even bother sending him a snap as I usually would, just to let him know how work was going. I knew he would ignore me. He too hadn't texted me since he left my place.
I quickly ushered Mariam out of my office as I had some work to do. Really because I needed my space to just mentally breakdown, without being asked what was wrong.
That was the worse part. I couldn't talk about it with anybody. Not even Dani.
Actually that's debatable. The worse part could be the fact that I had to see him. After all the effort I had put into not texting Angelo to know what was going on.
Like he had said, I wouldn't want to know. They could be torturing him for all I care, I just didn't want to know.
"You have a visitor, Em," I jumped off my skin when my phone buzzed. Mariam's voice on the other side. "Some stuck up b-i-t-c-h that just walked right passed me and is about to go in to your office right--"
The door swung open, followed by a loud bang behind her.
Meeting her eye, I quickly cut the call dead before Mariam could even say 'now'.
I stood up to my feet, trying not to be as scared as I was on the inside. "Break the glass, would you?"
"I will break every piece of bone in your body if you don't tell me where Tobias is," Claire stated, spitting out every word as she took each step to me with her red polished finger pointing right at me.
He said they would come. Angelo had warned me. And here she was.
I shrugged and sat back down in my chair. "He's missing?"
"A dumb blonde who can't act dumb? That's a first," she said. "But I'll tell you this, no matter how long you keep him, he will never remember who you are. We made sure of that. So I'll advice you return him to me before his father is next to pay you a visit."
It wasn't until she started walking away that what she had said hit me. "Wait, Tobias knows who I am."
"Oh sweetheart, don't be fooled," she rolled her eyes. "He knows only what we want him to know about you. You're nothing but a mission to him, Emily Warson."
