Jen's POV

I paid the cab driver and got off the vehicle. I strode down the walkway of the front yard both excited and a bit nervous at the same time. When I reached the front door I rang the bell briefly and nervously ran my fingers through my hair. Maybe visiting without prior notice was not that great of an idea after all.

A few moments later I could hear footsteps approaching and a sigh of relief left my mouth. He opened the door, still half asleep, even though it was almost 11am.

"Wha-what are you doing here?" he asked in surprise.

He effortlessly tried to rub the sleep off of his eyes with the back of his hands. I giggled at the sight and smiled widely at him.

"Hey, sorry I came unannounced and I'm terribly sorry if I woke you up. Um, can I come in?" I asked innocently.

He stepped outside and embraced me in a tight hug. I instinctively wrapped my arms around his body and he lifted me off the ground ever so slightly, which caused me to giggle once again. He then kissed my cheek before setting me down on the ground.

"I had no idea you were even here! Of course, come in!" he invited me with a bright smile as soon as we let go of each other.

We got inside the house and I followed him to the living room, where we proceeded to sit on the couch.

"Um, would you like some coffee? Or maybe, I don't know, a glass of wine?" he asked sarcastically.

"Coffee is fine. Besides, you could use some yourself." I told him and he vanished to the kitchen.

A few minutes later he came back with two big mugs of steaming coffee occupying both his hands.

"Thank you." I said in gratitude when he handed me one of the mugs.

I curled my fingers around the hot cup, appreciating the heat it radiated. He sat beside me and we sipped our drinks in silence for a couple minutes. He couldn't stop staring at me, grinning from ear to ear and I could tell that me appearing oh his doorstep was not the only reason.

"What is it?" I questioned with half my face buried inside the mug.

"I'm just glad you're here." he claimed with a smile, which was not at all convincing.

Like he didn't know I could see right through him.

"Come on, I know you better than that! You're hiding something!" I insisted.

"Well, we just found out yesterday, and no one knows yet..." he began to explain but suddenly paused mid-sentence.

I cocked my eyebrow and shot him a really confused look.

"Spill it, Daniel!" I demanded with a smirk.

(A/N: Surprise surprise, it's not Colin she visited, it's her brother😈😈)

"Ellie is pregnant." he confessed with a silly smile.

Upon hearing the news I covered my mouth with both hands in surprise. It was the best news I'd heard in a very long time.

"Oh my god, that's great!" I squealed and attacked him with a bear hug.

I was going to have another niece or nephew. I couldn't be more excited.

"Where is Ellie, by the way?" I asked when I sat up again, freeing him from my embrace in the process.

Only then did it hit me that she was not in the house.

"Oh, she went to pick up some groceries. Are you staying for lunch?" he asked.

"Do you have any wine?" I asked jokingly.

"Come on, I'm a Morrison, what do you think?" he smirked.

"Excellent. We should celebrate for the new family member that is on its way." I suggested.

"Sounds good." he agreed.

"So, in the meantime, can I use the guest room? I need to make an important phone call." I asked.

"Yeah, sure!" he confirmed.

I walked in the guest room and closed the door behind me. I fetched my phone from my side pocket and swiped it unlocked. I searched through my contacts and found the one with his name on it. I hesitantly pressed the call button and brought the phone to my ear.

"Hello." Colin's voice was heard from the other side.

"Hey, stranger." I greeted him, slightly smiling to myself.

A/N: Imma go hide somewhere, k?😂
