I looked up from my desk at the library to see the one and only Alex Standall walking towards me.
"Hey, Raya," he said when he reached me.
"Hi, since when did you go to the library?" I asked with my eyebrows raised.
"I'm good thanks, yeah my day has been great, yeah nice to see you too," he chuckled.
"What brings you to this boring place on such a nice day?"
"I came here to see a very beautiful girl," he said with a smile.
"Well, she might be, that way," I pointed to my left at a random boy sitting alone, "whoops..."
"Okay," he sighed and turned around, but quickly turned back around to face me.
"I like you, Raya! A lot and I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go on a date with me, I don't care where I don't care when," he said loudly so the librarian had to shush him, in which he shushed her back.
I blinked at him and shook my head.
"Sorry Alex, but I don't like you like that-"
"You don't have to like me, we can just go on this date as friends-"
"Alex, no, I'm sorry."
He pressed his lips together and nodded before walking away.
My heart just broke.
It was true, I didn't like Alex the way that he liked me, but it hurt me to see him so sad.
I thought about calling him back but I shook the thought away and continued to do my work.

I sat on my bed quietly, my mind was on Alex, I couldn't get his face out of my head after I rejected him.
I felt so bad.
I needed to do something about this.

I quickly dialled the numbers into my phone and called.
Then he picked up.
"Hello?" Alex said on the other side.
"Hey Al, it's Raya, you still up for that date?"
"After you just rejected me, why did you change your mind?"
"No questions, just go on this date with me."
"Okay then."
