I rang the doorbell and Ramiz opened the door.
"Badi jaldi aagayi." He commented as soon as I entered.
"Assalam alaikum." I said, reminding him. He chuckled.
"Walaikum assalam." He replied.
I handed him my shopping bags, earning a 'excuse me' look from him and went in the living room.
I saw ammi and abbu were drinking tea.
"Assalam Aalaikum, ammi abbu!" I greeted them and they replied with walaikum assalam.
"kaisi rahi tumhari shopping?" Ammi asked taking a sip of her tea.
"Bohat achi rahi. Bohat maaza aaya." I replied to ammi.
"Chalo, achi baat hai." Ammi said.
"Acha main na fresh hokar aati hoon." I said, before making my way to my room.
Ramiz's POV
"Ammi abbu," I spoke as soon as I heard the sound of Ramsha's room door close. "maine Ramsha kay liye ek surprise plan kiya hai. Usey kuch der kahin baahar lejaaen taake main tayyaariyan karloon." I told them and they liked the idea.
"Chalo theek hai, usey Waheeda ke haan lejaate hain. Waise bhi woh tum dono se milna chah rahi thi." Ammi said.
"Great!" I exclaimed.
A while later Ramsha came in the living room.
"Kya batein horahi hain?" She asked, sitting beside me on the sofa.
"Khaala ke ghar jaana hai tumhe. Jao tayyaar hojao." I told her and she frowned.
"Achanak kyun? Kheriat?" She asked.
"Haan beta, bas jab se tum aayi ho tumhari khaala tumse milna chah rahi hain. Toh maine socha abhi hum sab unse mil aaen." Ammi told her and I told at her.
"Sab?" I asked her.
"Haan." She replied.
"Nahi, main nahi jaasakta." I told her.
"Kyun, beta?" She asked.
"Ammi main wahan bore hojaata hoon... aur waisay bhi mujhe," I faked a yawn. "Mujhe bohat neend aarahi hai." I added.
"Acha nahi lagta beta." Ammi said.
"Yaar sab baday ek jagah baithay hotay hain aur Ramsha Sidra kay saath. Main sach mein bore hojaata hoon." I honestly said.
"Haan toh beta Sidra se tum bhi baatein kiya karo na..," ammi said.
"Woh ajeeb ladki ko Ramsha hi bardaasht kar sakti hai." I said, kind of annoyed and Ramsha let out a chuckle but immediately controlled it when I looked at her.
"Buri baat hai, Ramiz. Aisa nahi kehte... Khaala tumhe apna daamad banana chahti hain aur tum ho ke...-" Ramsha stopped speaking when I gave her a 'shut up' look. She laughed.
"Chhorein na ammi... rehne dein isey ghar par. Jab basement mein rehne waale milne aaenge na, bhaaga bhaaga aa jaega khaala ke haan." Ramsha said and I shook my head.
"InshAllah aisa nahi hoga. Kyun ke main tumhari tarah darpok nahi hoon." I replied to her.
"Acha tum dono ab bas ladna nahi shuru kardena. Hume der horahi hai beta chalo tayyar hojao jaake." Ammi said to both of us.
A few moments later, everyone went to get ready and I plopped myself on the couch.
Ramsha's POV
I went to my room.
Why don't they remember? I thought, disappointed. I brushed off the thoughts and took out my favourite pink trouser and kameez from the wardrobe. I quickly changed and then went back downstairs.
"Ammi abbu aap log ready hain?" I asked my parents.
"Jee beta hum bilkul ready hai." Abbu said, walking in the living room.
We all went outside and got seated in abbu's BMW.
In about twenty minutes, we reached Khaala's place. We got out of the car and went towards the entrance of the house.
We rang the doorbell and a few minutes later, Khaaloo opened the door.
"Assalam alaikum!" Abbu said and shook hands with him. Ammi and I too said the same.
"Walaikum assalam" He replied with a smile and invited us in.
"Waheeda, dekho kon aaya hai." He called Khaala as we walked to the living room.
Soon, Khaala came and we all met her. It had been a couple of years since I hadn't met her.
We all sat in the living room and talked about different things.
- a couple of hours later -
"Acha ab humein ijaazat dein." Abbu said while getting up.
We bid goodbye and then headed back home.
It was a few minutes past 11 right now. After we reached home, we rang the bell but Ramiz didn't open the door. I thought he was just making an excuse when he said he was sleepy. It was unusual of him to sleep this early on a weekend. Abbu unlocked the door with his keys and we got in. All the lights were switched off. Abbu closed the door shut.
Before I could switch on the lights the house lit up and in front of me stood Ramiz who was now joined by ammi and abbu.
They sang happy birthday for me making me smile wide.
"I thought you all forgot my birthday." I honestly said and abbu laughed.
"Aisa kabhi nahi hosakta." He said keeping his hand over my head.
"Allah tumhe dunya ki har khushi naseeb kare. Aameen." Ammi blessed me with dua and we all said Aameen after her.
"Happy birthday, behnaa!" Ramiz wished me and hugged me. I thanked him and we broke the hug.
"Ramiz ke bacche! Itni achi acting kabse karne lag gaye?" I asked him referring to his refusal to go to Khaala's place.
"Bas kabhi ghuroor nahi kiya." He boasted and I slapped his arm lightly.
"Dramebaaz." I said and he laughed.
"Chaloo! Cake kaato! You have no idea how hard is it to resist such a delicious looking cake!" He said and we shared a laugh.
I cut the cake and fed it to everyone. Ramiz and I had a little cake fight like we have every year on each other's birthdays.
"Ek aur surprise..." Ramiz said after we were done washing the cake and cream off our faces.
"Kya?" I asked him and he took me to the living room.
He handed over a gift to me and I opened it. It was the DVD of a movie that I had been wanting to was for so long but couldn't find anywhere.
"Raamiiizzzz!" I squealed.
"Mera kaan." He said placing hand over his ear.
"Thank youuu!" I hugged him. He hugged me back.
"Allah kare tum hamesha aise hi hasti muskuraati raho." He said with a smile, making me smile.
He told me to sit down with ammi and abbu and went to the kitchen.
A few minutes later, he brought a bowl of popcorn.
"I love you all a lot se bhi ziada" I said.
"We love you too." they replied.
We all then comfortably settled down and watched the movie.
