Andi sat in her apartment, waiting for Cole. She wished Claire hadn't left. She wished she hadn't gotten so emotionally invested in him. Sure, they'd only know each other a few months but he'd seemed so different. It had been a long time since Andi had fallen for a guy so hard and felt so at home. She wasn't even sure what it was about him... something just pulled her in and trapped her there.
In all honesty, she'd been heartbroken when he'd told her he wasn't ready for a relationship. She'd tried her best to just brush it off, but she'd never been one to be able to hide her feelings so she knew both Cole and Dylan knew she was hurt.
A knock on her door snapped her out of her thoughts and she went and swung the door open for him, instantly surprised that he'd actually brought the two dogs he'd snapped her earlier with him. She'd mostly been joking, but she couldn't hide how happy she was that he'd listened.
"Puppies!" she yelled, sitting down on the floor and Cole sat down the wriggling bulldog puppy in front of her. The puppy tackled her, making her giggle. The other dog, obviously older and better behaved, licked her arm and politely waited for her to pet her.
Cole shut the door of the apartment and sat down with Andi on the floor.
"That's Stella," he said, motioning to the older dog. "She's my mom's. And that little ball of energy is Bruiser. He's my newest addition," Cole finished, laughing as the bulldog puppy tackled him at the sound of his name.
They played mindlessly with the dogs for a few minutes, until Andi could feel Cole's eyes on her. She looked up at him through long eyelashes and waited for him to say something.
"I think I'm in love with you," he blurted, catching her completely off guard. She stared at him slack-jawed for a moment, wondering if somehow she'd misheard him.
"What?" she asked quietly, her eyes wide as she stared at him
"I think... I'm in love with you. I pushed you away because I didn't know how to handle my feelings for you. In all honesty, you scare the shit out of me. I don't think I've ever gotten so attached to someone so fast," he told her, scooting closer to her and taking her hands in his. "I know it's soon. I know maybe I'm an idiot. But I love you."
She studied him for a long time, formulating her response. He watched her patiently, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
"I... I think I love you too, you asshole," she said finally, her words making him laugh out loud.
"Good," he said, smiling as he leaned in to kiss her. She wrapped her arms around him happily, pulling herself as close to him as she could manage.
They embraced and kissed for a few moments more before they were interrupted by Bruiser pushing himself into their laps, forcing them apart.
"What a cock block," Cole joked, scratching between the puppy's ears.
"At least he's adorable though," Andi said, pouting just slightly. Cole just rolled his eyes and kissed her forehead.
