"Hi," came a feminine voice from the doorway of our bedroom. "Ah!" I exclaimed. "Jumping unicorns on pogo sticks, you scared me!" "Sorry about that, but I am your new neighbor Jaqueline. Anyway, my husband and I were bringing over a platter of churros to say welcome to the neighborhood, and couldn't help but overhear your fight. I just wanted to remind you to appreciate what you have, and not get so worked up over such small things. It can be the death of you." Then she left. Huh, I thought.
"I'm sorry!" Both Cameron and I said at the same time as he came in to go to bed. The next day, I woke up early and made muffins for breakfast, making sure to package up a few to take to Jacqueline. After all the cleaning up had been finished, I grabbed the extra muffins and headed out for house 8675309. A few minutes of walking around later, I realized that there was no house with that number. When I got home, I opened my laptop and searched up "Jacqueline" and "8675309". What I learned was that a couple, Jacqueline and Daniel Stinger, had died in an accidental house fire: a forgotten-in-the-fight meal caught fire on the stove. They had lived on this lot.
