Silvery flakes drift from the mid-morning sky, leaving a blanket of white snow on the ground that children play in until lunch. I sit at the kitchen table with my daddy who is smiling at me and my mama. He gathered us after he got home from work in a fluster. He told us coins had been made specially with our state on them. He placed a coin in my hand and told me it was mine to use as I wished. After some persuasion, I convinced him to let me get a candy bar from the shop down the street. The cold air hits my face as I walk towards the shop. Outside of the shop I pause and look up towards the sky as the snow comes to a stop. I think about all of the other citizens in states without special coins. I think about the pride my daddy had at Colorado having a simple coin with its name engraved on it.

Ding! The shop's door is opened, ring the bell, puling me from my thoughts.
