Adam's P.O.V.

I walked into my frat, threw my keys in the bowl on the counter and kicked off my Nike Air's.

I stomped back over to the fridge, grabbed a coke and popped the top off the bottle. I took a few sips and placed it down on my cluttered dining room table, not caring if it was on top of any work.

The house was dead silent, so I decided to hit up a friend and tell him I was coming over for some game time.

A couple of minutes went by and there was still no reply. I shrugged and grabbed my car keys, slid on my Nike's and went out to my car.

I jumped into my matte black Jeep Wrangler and sped out of the college parking lot, down to Justin's house, Kygo ft Select it ain't me blasting through the speakers. I got there in record time, no thanks to the vast amount of college kids on the road, on the way home for the weekend.

Letting myself in, because this was like my second home away from home, I groaned internally, realizing it was silent too. The front door was unlocked though, so someone had to be home.

"Yo, J. My man, where you at?" I yelled, no answer. I grabbed a water from the fridge and took a sip before I stomped down the passage to his bedroom.

The door was ajar, so I pushed it open with my foot. The air suddenly left my lungs as I stood in the doorway of my best friend's room, a naked back towards me, a head of messed up blond hair attached to it.

"What the actual fuck, man?" I yelled, my face heating up with anger.

"Adam..." Lindsey breathed, all the colour draining from her face, her body tense now. "I knew you both were shitty people, but I never thought you'd be shit enough to fuck behind my back. We're done." I looked at both of them before turning on my heel and storming out of Justin's house, sliding into the front seat of my jeep.

I turned the radio up as high as it could go and backed out of the drive-way, ironically Chris Brown loyal filled my ears.

"Adam!" Lindsey called, a grey blanket covering her chest and torso, Justin standing right next to her . Seeing them half naked in my rear-view mirror, made my skin burn with hatred.

"What the hell even is this mentor program? Because it sounds like utter shit to me

"What the hell even is this mentor program? Because it sounds like utter shit to me." I muttered as I stepped through the frat house door.  Lucas chuckled and I punched his arm.  "Asshole."

"It's be good for you man.  You need to keep your grades up and maybe having weekly visits with a peer mentor will do your mental health good too. I mean with Justin and all..." He trailed off, leaving me to my thoughts.  It's been a week since the incident where I caught my cheerleader ex-girlfriend doing the dirty with my best friend of eight years.  "Where did you even get this girl's number from?" Lucas asked after a couple of minutes of silence.  "Coach Wade." I answered, giving him a slight wink. "Don't even, mate." He laughed and I couldn't help but laugh too. He knew me so well.

We walked across campus towards the classes, where I left Lucas. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and unlocked the screen. I opened the music app and stuffed the earphones into my ears and then into the phone. I pulled up the new song by the Chainsmokers and Coldplay, it was my ultimate favourite right now. I yanked my hoodie over my head as the cold wind left my face feeling numb. I stalked across the quad and into Starbucks , feeling grumpier by the minute.

I went to order a latté, and walked over to the seating area, scanning the crowd for the brunette wearing a red shirt. There were a couple of brunettes but no red shirts.

"Adam Davis!" The barista called, as I slid my phone into my jacket pocket. I sauntered over to the counter and took my latté from her, giving her a wink. She immediately blushed, giggling like a school girl.

I slowly made my way to the back of the coffee shop where I spotted the brunette wearing a red shirt.  Her wavy hair falling over her shoulders, she looked tiny, no more than 5'3". Her bare legs were crossed on the chair, her daisy dukes riding up higher than I thought she was aware of. Her converse covered feet beneath her thighs. She looked too warm for the cold weather outside.

I slowly pulled out the chair across from her and sat down, placing my latté down onto the table, along with my iPhone. She smiled up st me, stashing her book into her shoulder bag, her brown eyes scanning me.

"You must be Adam Davis." She smiled, extending her hand towards me. I felt sick to my stomach all of a sudden, but shoved my hand into hers nonetheless. "In the flesh," I agreed, "And you must be Parker McKenna Scott."

"That's me." She smiled again, her eyes moving towards our hands, her smile still in place now accompanied by a slight blush.

Shit. I wasn't going to get all friendly with my peer mentor. This isn't supposed to be fun.

I smiled and let go of her hand. Dumbass.

"So what exactly are these mentor programs for?" I asked, after what seemed like forever. I took a sip of my latté and kept her gaze. "It's whatever you want it to be for, Adam. Your grades honestly don't look that bad, but they want to make sure you keep it that way. So our weekly meetings can be about whatever you want. Even if you just want to talk." She finished, sipping on what smelled like hot chocolate.

"So basically I just have to show up, tell you I'm doing fine and then we leave?" I smirked, this was going to be easy. "If that's what you want." She smiled again, a different smile this time. I couldn't place what emotion it was showing. She stood up, took her hot chocolate in one hand and threw her shoulder bag over her shoulder.

"See ya next week, Adam." She promised, and pushed past the huge amount of college kids sifting through the Starbucks door.

"Yeah, see ya." I mumbled and stood up, heading to my fraternity, feeling awkward.
