Hannah's P.O.V.
He placed his left hand in front of him, relaxed, and closed his eyes. We all looked around, confused. But then sparks began to shimmer from his palm, facing the ground. Just one, at first, but soon two at a time, and then three, and then several, and then dozens. I started shaking. I felt my knees growing weak. The sparks soon materialized into metal, a long metal rod....no, handle.....to his blood-stained battle axe.
Never in my life had I been so scared.
I whimpered and I heard Erin snivel. I hugged her, and Nick and Blaze as well. We huddled together, scared out of our minds, and we could see Rachel and Anna and Patrick doing the same on the opposite side of him. The demon slung the ridiculously giant axe over his shoulder. He looked down at the knife in his right hand, shrugged, and launched it with nonhuman strength at a nearby tree. People dodged its serrated blade as it flew towards the tree, and embedded itself inside its wood up to the hilt.
Brute strength....how would we be any match against this damned beast??
He looked each and every one of us in the eye, winking at Blaze. This sent him into an uncontrollable rage. The demon knew it would. "I guess I have my first contestant...." He grinned, with those yellow fangs glinting in the sun's fading light. The sky was growing darker by each second. Blaze took a few angry steps towards the equally angry demon before him when Erin grabbed him by the arm. "NO, Blaze! No, please!" Tears streamed down her face. I tried to keep her in my grasp but she wrenched out of my arms.
"Blaze, I won't let him hurt you!" She sobbed as she hugged him. He sighed and hugged her back. She suddenly pushed him back towards me and Nick. "Take me instead!" She cried out.
Everyone glared at her with fear and shock in their eyes, jaws dropping. "No! Erin!" A chorus of random protests erupted, and she squeezed more tears from her eyes.
The devil saw his chance and took it. "I'll give you what you've always wanted....to escape this hellish nightmare you call your life." He coaxed her to join him. "NO!!!" I screamed. She took a step towards him. "He's lying! He'll only make it worse for you!" I tried to make her see reason. Thinking logically was the thing I was best at, and I only prayed that it was enough.
Apparently it wasn't....
She took more steps toward him. Two, three, four....closer and closer, she inched her way to the devilish gleam of the axe's giant blade. Nick and Rachel and Anna were screeching at her to stop, to turn back. "I give up." She murmured plainly, without emotion in her hoarse voice. She fell to her knees in front of him. He cocked his arm back, aiming, building up power....
"NO!!!!!!!!" I fell to my knees after her, reaching for her. "I love you guys...." She sobbed. He sliced her head clean off.
Her body went limp, little spouts of blood pouring out from where her head was a second ago. She fell over, and her head landed beside her lifeless corpse. It was facing me now. I could see the last tear she cried.
Not one single person moved for what seemed a small eternity.
Then everyone jumped towards him, sobbing, screaming. "Take me next!" "Kill me!"
I was so shocked....I couldn't move if my life depended on it, which I'm sure it did. Even Rachel started bawling. I was so numb I couldn't immediately react to anything.
Blaze and Nick and Anna and Rachel....even Patrick....they were all yelling, shrieking for him to murder them next. I was so sickened.....I turned around and vomited on the grass, squeezing tears out as the spew coated the little green blades. After I was finished, I turned back around. The sight that greeted me was worse than any other.
